Lead Reservoir Engineer

Our client is a dynamic and successful international operator with a healthy balance sheet and a track record of significant incremental production year on year, from assets across several continents.

We are now seeking a well rounded senior reservoir engineer with strong leadership and presentation skills to fulfil a technically hands-on and broad scoping role. This will cover appraisal, development and production/operations engineering, working in the immediate term on on an off-shore development with drilling commencing June this year and production scheduled for mid 2011 Ideally your background will have included some level staff oversight & team leadership such that you will have the potential to step into the retiring Sub-Surface manager's role after approximatley18 months. Preference will be given to Reservoir Engineers who seek management progression and have previous Far East experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working on field development plans in conjunction with the teams development Geophysicists and development Geologists, to optimise the reservoir models.
  • Production monitoring during field life, working with operations personnel to optimise field production and recovery, updating the field simulation model as further data comes in.
  • Data analysis - PVT, SCAL, Pressure, etc
  • Prepare well designs, planning and selecting well locations and preparing testing and data acquisition programs.
  • Presenting to JV partners, Govt, Stakeholders and building working relationships.
  • Mentoring/coaching less experienced staff
  • Ability to work with the minimum of supervision, draw effective conclusions and make positive decisions based on your own professional confidence and thorough methodology.

Key Requirements

  • 15 + years broad experience in Reservoir Engineering gained with an operating oil company, ideally with some level of staff mentoring/team leading experience.
  • B.Sc and ideally M.Sc in an Engineering discipline
  • Proficient in reservoir simulation and reservoir engineering software tools - ideally Eclipse, MBAL, Saphir.
  • Good grounding in development engineering (off-shore, clastic reservoirs) with a solid understanding of production/operational issues
