Country Manager/Directeur Général

Summary

We have been retained to recruit an experienced 'fluent French speaking' E&P country manager. Your remit will be to manage all aspects of the day to day operations in country in accordance with the goals and KPIs of the business, both safely and efficiently. You will also provide advice and expertise in relation to business development, government relations and partner joint-ventures.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Executive Team and all members of the in-country Management Team in the development of business strategy by understanding the key issues and ensuring successful outcomes.
  • Develop clear operating policies and procedures to support the business activities and ensures their communication and adherence.
  • Give direction and work closely with the management and the operations team to ensure achievement of targets and objectives safely and cost-effectively.
  • Implement, monitor and report on budgets and other financial statements in line with corporate requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a sound and cost effective organisation which is able to deliver excellent results based on skill; clarity of roles and responsibilities.
  • Ensure performance management, training and development takes place in line with requirements.
  • Ensure that the business operations are compliant with all applicable local and company regulations and legislation including the Code of Business Conduct.
  • Direct, in conjunction with the Operations Manager, the management and maintenance of all local assets and facilities.
  • Manage the compliance with purchasing and procurement policies and procedures.
  • Develop excellent relationships with strategic partners, financial institutions government, regulatory authorities and other stakeholders to enhance the company's reputation.
  • Support high level business development and M & A activities including negotiation of transactions as required in conjunction with Group BD goals.
  • Member of the Incident Management Team to support the company's capability to deal with emergency situations.
  • Regularly communicate business issues, opportunities and commercial risk and liability to the executive team.

Requirements

  • Good degree or relevant masters degree, with an excellent grasp of financial/commercial/technical/operational issues.
  • At least 10 years experience in upstream oil and gas with some experience in a commercial environment and strong technical knowledge.
  • Excellent management skills with the ability to motivate and lead a multi-cultural and diverse team.
  • Enthusiastic and results driven individual with the ability to achieve required results at pace and under pressure.
  • Strong commercial background with the ability to understand and manage relatively complex deals and financial transactions.
  • Well honed written and verbal presentational skills including the preparation of briefing documents, letters and presentations.
  • French speaker
  • Well organised with the ability to meet exacting deadlines and work effectively under time pressure.
  • Accuracy very important.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills .Able to assimilate a thorough understanding of our client's business and strategy and any transactions under consideration.
  • Flexible and willing to travel

Remuneration

A substantial package is being offered to include equity participation and Bonus our client will also consider a consulting engagement.
