Senior New Ventures Geologist
We are retained by this dynamic young oil company to recruit a principal New ventures Geologist with a proven track record in evaluating new licensing opportunities, ideally covering Africa and the Middle East. Your remit will include the following
- Analyse sub-surface information to generate and evaluate new prospect and play opportunities
- Review and monitor industry activity to stay abreast of emerging areas of interest within the defined geographic remit
- Attend data rooms to review farm-in and new licensing opportunities.
- Close liaison with foreign Govt NOCs and partner oil companies in respect to the negotiation and setting out of JV agreements.
- Experienced in the preparation of Technical (competent persons) reports & presentations to management.
- A firm grasp of principles of asset economics and risking - able to work through the figures as well as the data
- An entrepreneurial thinker, able to scope and bring new ideas and play concepts to the table
- Must have a solid track record in international new ventures, ideally covering EAME and used to working in remote locations with little or no support.
- Computer literate and an experienced user of one or more major software application suites used in sub-surface evaluation.
Requirements
- Geology Degree, ideally backed up by a business qualification such as an MBA
- Minimum 10 + years in exploration/appraisal with a significant portion gained within a New Ventures environment.
- Pragmatic self-starter who can work independently in a small informal start-up environment.
- French Language skills a major advantage
- London based, applicants must be willing to travel frequently and at short notice to some remote locations.
