Community relations Manager



Full Expat or Rotational

Oil Company - Kurdistan

Our client, a successful international producing oil company is currently looking for a community relations manager to implement and strategically manage the company's community relations program in the semi-autonomous Kurdistan region of Northern Iraq. (KRG)

For clarity, Kurdistan is actually safe and is ranked "secure" by the US military. Over 20 E&P companies have been operating in the region over the past several years with no interruptions.

Responsibilities

  • To develop develop a positive protocol with stake-holders and local communities to mitigate issues that could potentially impact operations.
  • Negotiate appropriate permissions - such as land access and compensation to support the company's operations in a timely and sustainable manner.
  • Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations to facilitate the successful conduct of the company's operations
  • Manage objectives and performance of contractors & staff tasked with carrying out specific community consultation processes.
  • Develop a network of key contacts with stakeholders groups and industry peers in company's area of operation.
  • Provide community relations awareness and education to company staff and contractors
  • Develop framework and baseline study of area including a three year work program and budget.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years extractive industry experience in community relations
  • Minimum of 5 years of field work performing community consultations and executing social investment plans
  • Ability to conduct land access negotiations and sustainable compensation agreements to impacted communities, tenant farmers and landowners
  • Experience in working in the Kurdistan region of Northern Iraq, or a
  • Middle East country
  • Broad network of contacts with local communities and regulatory entities.
  • Strong communication and people skills, with fluency in English You will work with a Kurdish Translator.
  • Travel requirements to the field approximately 28 days rotation.
