Rock Deformation Research Limited (RDR), a structural geology consulting company for the hydrocarbons and mineral industry, is seeking an individual with an expertise in structural geology and mechanics. The successful candidate will work on projects on trap and fault seal characterization and help grow the geomechanics area in the group.

RDR is a structural geology consulting company based in Leeds, England. The company is recognized as a leader in the application of structural geology methods for the oil and gas industry Consulting projects range from the microscale analysis of fault rocks controlling the flow resistance in traps, through the mechanical controls on fault and fracture development, to structural modelling and trap risking to the regional synthesis of the tectonics of basins. Alongside applied consultancy the group also provides training in the form of field and lecture based courses and conducts two industry sponsored research consortia. Recently RDR developed software to improve the methods for fault interpretation through a relationship with Schlumberger.

RDR is expanding its team to meet the increased industry demand in the area of mechanics applied to the structural interpretation in exploration, production, and drilling and to develop in-house tools and techniques to provide services in this area.

We are seeking a PhD level structural geologist with a strong mechanics background. The ideal candidate will be required to develop links with oil and gas companies and should have a good working knowledge of analytical and numerical methods in mechanics and be familiar with software for Finite Element modeling.

The role offers a good salary and benefits package which includes 26 days holiday and pension scheme.
