Robertson Geologging Ltd. is seeking capable staff to operate computerised field logging units on sites throughout the UK and Ireland. Based in Deganwy in North Wales, you will be responsible for a vehicle-mounted data survey unit making wireline log measurements in boreholes for clients in the coal, mining, water and geotechnical industries. The logging technique involves data acquisition from a variety of electronic probes that are lowered into a borehole using a vehicle mounted electric winch. The probes measure the physical parameters of the rock continuously throughout the borehole and transmit it to a data recorder on the surface. These measurements can be interpreted as types of rock type, fluid properties and mechanical properties

The work involves travel and periods of days or occasionally up to two weeks away from base. A reasonable amount of driving is required and possession of a full UK driving licence and at least one year's driving experience are prerequisites.

The ideal candidate will have a practical mechanical and/or electronic background and be resourceful, able to work independently and solve problems in the field. A liking for an outdoor life style is essential.

Formal qualifications are not essential for this post, as on-the-job training will be given. However, we welcome applications from candidates with a degree or similar in a scientific or engineering discipline as we have posts at several levels.

Salary levels will be commensurate with ability. Additional benefits include a generous pension scheme, health insurance and 20 days paid leave plus bank holidays. Days spent in the field attract time in lieu and a bonus based on a % of the job value. There may be occasional opportunities for overseas travel.
