Position summary

Rocksource ASA is a fast growing, Norwegian based E&P Company with a strong technology focus. Due to significant growth over the past year, the company is seeking to hire a database and applications manager to join the technical team based in our offices in the centre of Bergen. The database and applications manager will report to the subsurface manager and work closely with the geoscientists in our exploration and production departments. The role will entail a wide range of responsibilities including loading and QC of seismic and well data, set-up and maintenance of interpretation projects, software support and purchasing of new data from vendors. The database and applications manager will also work together with our IT service providers in order to assess the hardware and software needs of the company as the organisation continues to grow.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Download, import and QC of seismic, well and cultural data for interpretation projects on multiple software application platforms.
  • Quality control of navigation data and transfer of data between different UTM zones and projection systems.
  • Set-up, maintenance and archiving of interpretation projects in Petrel and other software applications platforms.
  • Managing and maintaining the Rocksource data library in both electronic and physical hard copy formats.
  • Liasing with the exploration team and various data vendors to coordinate the purchase of new seismic data and other third party products.
  • Providing technical support to the geoscientists working in Petrel and other interpretation / geophysical software packages.
  • Liaising with the company's IT personnel in order to resolve software and hardware issues, and to optimise software and hardware performance.
  • Assisting the geophysicists in running technical processes as required.

Experience and qualifications

The successful candidate will have at least one year of experience related to oil and gas technical support along with either a geological or geophysical background, or other relevant experience in this area. A good working knowledge of Petrel and the Diskos / Petrobank database will be highly advantageous. Other relevant experience related to data loading and database management, as well as knowledge of other geophysical and interpretation software will also be considered an asset. Additionally, the candidate should have excellent computer, communicational, organisational, problem-solving and team-working skills, combined with a strong work ethic.
