The Company

The UK arm of our client's business is one of several international subsidiaries that explore for and produce oil and gas. The North Sea is a key region for the business, which is constantly looking to enhance its portfolio by adding exploration prospects, and actively seeking farm-in and acquisition opportunities.

The Role

The support ongoing growth, we are looking for a junior Economist to join the Commercial team in Central London. The job holder will have responsibility for the completion of all UK related economic analysis, along with the Commercial Developer/Economist (who retains ultimate accountability). As UK activities continue to grow an important aspect of this role will be to maintain a strong level of economic support to key parts of the business, in particular: ongoing production & operations; new developments negotiations; new business opportunities; and the internal planning processes. You will be responsible for a large proportion of the core economic analysis required by the business, as well as the vital day-to-day production and development analysis that will help to maintain optimal decision making. Initially you will be mentored by the Commercial Develop/Economist and in the medium term you will complete the majority of the economic analysis. A willingness to work as a team with a goal of continually looking to improve commercial operations and the interface with all other functions and disciplines is a key component of the role.

Requirements

Candidates are expected to have at least two years Oil & Gas experience, gained working in UKCS as an Economist. In addition we are keen to hear from people who are interested in developing into the wider aspects of the Commercial arena, and with experience of interfacing between the Commercial, Financial and Technical disciplines. Exposure to both upstream and downstream activities is preferable and you should be comfortable playing an active role in company planning processes. This role will suit a commercially astute team player who can develop relationships to maximize effectiveness. Lateral thinking and problem solving are key requirements and ideal candidates will be self starters with an eye for detail and a high degree of persistence.
