We are currently seeking to recruit two Research Scientists to conduct research into seismic applications for an oilfield environment. You will be based at our Schlumberger Cambridge Research Centre ("SCR") facility in Cambridge, England. SCR carries out fundamental and applied research directed towards new products and services for improving the efficiency of hydrocarbon recovery operations cost-effectively, safely and without harming the environment. For the first position, you will work on aspects of modeling, imaging and inversion of seismic wavefield data for characterization of the subsurface in terms of its geological structure and rock properties. For the second position, you'll have a background and interest in borehole seismic analysis and/or passive seismic for reservoir monitoring applications, including inversion for source parameters. We will be considering appointments at both junior and more senior levels. You must have a Ph.D. in the field of numerical earth science, physics or geophysics, mathematics, or engineering, with theoretical and/or practical knowledge of the physics of seismic wave propagation, signal processing and scientific programming. Experience in the application of seismic methods to the oilfield will be an advantage.
