IT Business Analyst - Oil & Gas Sector

Contract position - Aberdeen, UK.

ROLE OVERVIEW & DESCRIPTION

Our client, a SuperMajor Oil & Gas Operator, is looking for an IT Business Analyst with Oil & Gas experience.

The holder of this role will work with UK Subsurface team and as such will be accountable to the Business Managers, supervisors and other key customers. The BA will be required to translate the business strategies and needs into value through effective implementation of information services, by identifying IT requirements and developing business requirements for IT Shared Services.

This position is responsible for the provisioning of all IT services to the UK Upstream GGRE Business.

This role will also be accountable to the IT global function for advocacy of the IT policies, strategies and practices. Finally, the Business Analyst is accountable to the UK Upstream IT Business Partner Organization to contribute to an effective portfolio management of the IT project budget.

Candidates applying for this role must be able to demonstrate at least 7 years experience of working within the Oil & Gas industry.

This is a contract role, for an initial duration of 12 months, and will be based at our clients UK HQ in Aberdeen, UK.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
  • Translate business needs and strategies into IT requirements and source IT services to meet both current& future requirements
  • Understand business processes end-to-end, actively measuring business contribution of enabling systems, and initiate improvement to the process and/or systems
  • Work with Service Managers to ensure services meet business needs
  • Provide projected demand for services to the Service Managers
  • Understand and communicate to the business both the costs and value of services provided
  • Owner of software lifecycle management process for their customer group(s) (nomination, investigation, approval, acquisition, installation, operations and disposition of software) to ensure optimal business application portfolio
  • Perform front-end-loading (FEL), business case development, present to Business and IT management for approval and, where appropriate, lead projects
  • Review the range of existing solutions available and present options and recommendations to the business on which ones to use
  • Work with business-unit-specific vendors and industry groups
  • Influence customer demand
ROLE REQUIREMENTS – QUALIFICATIONS
  • Geoscience or Reservoir Engineering degree, B.Sc. or M.Sc. or comparable education
  • Non-geoscience / reservoir engineering education may be compensated with documented relevant experience
ROLE REQUIREMENTS –SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

EXPERIENCE
  • Ten years working in the Oil & Gas industry, at either an operator or service company
  • Demonstrable experience of Business Analysis activity
  • A good understanding of the IT systems used in the GGRE discipline

ROLE CONTRACT DURATION & RATE
  • The contract duration will initially be 12 months
  • The rate is open, dependent on candidate skills & experience
