Availability & Capacity Manager

Fixed Term Contract Position - Jubail, Saudi Arabia

ROLE OVERVIEW & DESCRIPTION

Our client, a blue chip global consultancy, is looking for a IT Financial & Supplier Manager due to increased workloads at a prestigious client in Jubail, Saudi Arabia.

This role would suit someone who has previously worked in Saudi Arabia or who is willing to commit to their first posting in the region. It offers a great chance for someone to enter the consultancy sector and as such should be regarded as a chance to gain experience and a foothold. If your sole motivation is to make money tax free then this isn't for you.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

The Availability & Capacity Manager acts as an intermediary between the users of our client's customer and the technical groups who will deliver and support the services provided to them. In this context, the agreed availability and capacity levels will be based on a combination of the importance of the IT service to the users and the cost implications of achieving those levels.

Availability Management responsibilities:
  • Determining with the Service Level Manager, availability and capacity requirements through discussion and negotiation with the business users of IT services
  • Ensuring that the confidentiality, integrity and availability of services are maintained at the levels agreed in the SLAs and conform to all relevant statutory requirements
  • Ensuring that all groups involved with the delivery of IT services are aware of the availability requirements and are committed to providing delivery and/or support services which underpin the agreed levels - these groups might include internal teams and external suppliers
  • Ensuring that all new services are designed to deliver the levels of availability required by the business, and where possible that existing services are addressed to achieve required availability levels - this involves ensuring that availability requirements from customers for new or enhanced services are understood by application designers
  • Agreement of the meaningful & measureable metrics & performance indicators together with reporting that reflect business requirements
  • Provision of appropriate availability reporting to demonstrate that agreed levels of availability, reliability and maintainability are measured and monitored on an ongoing basis
  • Ensuring that the techniques and methods used by any contractors or third parties are in line with business requirements, regularly reviewed, audited and subjected to continuous improvement
  • Ensuring that availability requirements from customers for new or enhanced services are understood by application designers
  • Production and maintenance of an availability plan which prioritizes and plans service availability improvements
  • Raising Requests for Change (RFC) for IT infrastructure changes to improve service availability
  • Assisting with the investigation and diagnosis of Incidents and Problems which cause availability issues
Capacity Management responsibilities:
  • Understanding the current usage of the infrastructure and IT services, and the maximum capacity of each component
  • Performing sizing on all proposed new systems, possibly using modelling techniques, to ascertain capacity requirements
  • Forecasting future capacity requirements based on business plans, usage trends, sizing of new services, etc
  • Production of the Capacity Plan, in line with the organization's business planning cycle, identifying current usage and forecast requirements during the period covered by the plan
  • Ensuring that appropriate levels of monitoring of resources and system performance are set and maintaining a Capacity Database to hold this information
  • Analysis of usage and performance data, and reporting on performance against targets contained in SLAs
  • Raising Incidents and Problems when breaches of capacity or performance thresholds are detected and assisting with the investigation and diagnosis of capacity-related Incidents and Problems
  • Identifying and initiating any tuning to be carried out to improve capacity or performance
  • Identifying and implementing initiatives to improve resource usage - for example demand management techniques
  • Identification of the need for any increase or reduction in hardware based on the Capacity Plan, and raising Requests for Change (RFC) for the implementation of those changes
  • Assessment of new technology and its relevance to the organization in terms of performance and cost
  • Assessment of new hardware and software products for use by Capacity Management that might improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the process
  • Familiarity with potential future demand for IT Services and assessment of this on performance service levels
  • Assessing Changes for their impact on capacity and performance. Attendance at CAB meetings when appropriate
  • Demand management process management
ROLE REQUIREMENTS - QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be educated to at least Bachelor degree level
  • ITIL qualification, preferably to v3
ROLE REQUIREMENTS - SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Basically, candidates should have the skills & responsibilities to be able to carry out the majority of the responsibilities and duties of this role, which are details above. In addition to this though, the following specifics will be required:
  • Must be able to demonstrate at least 3 years in an Availability & Capacity Manager role, preferably dealing with government organisations
  • Experience of working within a consultancy organisation would be an advantage
  • Experience of working in a customer facing role
  • Good interpersonal & communication skills
  • The ability to work to deadlines, sometimes under pressure
ROLE CONTRACT DURATION & RATE
  • This will be a fixed term contract, initially for 12 months
  • Sponsorship and visas to work in KSA will be provided
  • Salary will be to $120k p.a
