ROLE OVERVIEW & DESCRIPTION
Our client, a SuperMajor operator, requires a Petrel Earth Modeling Support person for a staff position, based at their offices in Aberdeen, UK.
This job opening is for an experienced Petrel user who is interested in providing in-depth technical support to our clients upstream business unit interpreters and earth modellers. This is an excellent opportunity to learn up-to-date Next-Gen interpretation and earth modelling technologies. The job responsibility will include day-to-day Petrel technology support, consulting, technical service, training and working with other experts employed by our client to provide a full range of Petrel user support. Some domestic and international travel may be necessary for this role.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a SuperMajor Oil & Gas Operator.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Help users how to setup Petrel project, import/export data, data editing, and how to navigate with Petrel
- Help users how to perform basic horizon interpretation, fault interpretation, and Petrel geobody interpretation
- Provide support on Petrel workflow editor including how to set up a workflow, how to work with a pre-defined workflow, and how to tailor an existing workflow
- Provide support on fault modelling, pillar gridding, time/depth conversion, facies modelling, petrophysical modelling and volume calculation
- Coordinate with our clients researchers to provide domain knowledge support
- Work with team members and ETC R&D staff to advance our clients Next-Gen earth modelling technology
- Provide consultant work, technical service work and training as requested by our clients business units
- Prepare written documentation and occasionally make presentations to our clients business units and management
- Interface with our clients business unit technical staff in various locations, mentor national employees and develop training plans
ROLE REQUIREMENTS – QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Geology, Geophysics or Petroleum Engineering is required
ROLE REQUIREMENTS – SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Solid working experience of Petrel and providing user support
- Knowledge with Petrel project setup, data management, workflow editor, interpretation, fault modelling, pillar gridding, petrophysical modelling and volume calculation
- Experience with OpenSpirit, well correlation, well design, scale-up, and reservoir simulation would be beneficial
- Strong communication skills
- Able to work independently or in a team environment, enjoys interacting with team members, and likes to share knowledge with others
ROLE SALARY PACKAGE
- Base salary c.£55-£70K plus excellent benefits package
