Seismic Data Manager

ROLE OVERVIEW & DESCRIPTION

As a result of expanding requirements our client needs a Seismic Data Manager to join its Petrotechnical Global Data Management Team on site at a Supermajor E&P client.

The role is within a team which is the focal point for all Seismic data management service requests. Candidates should have a good overall knowledge of exploration and production activities within the oil and gas industry, current subsurface domain knowledge and an understanding of the management of seismic data types and the seismic data lifecycle from acquisition to archiving.

This is a fantastic chance to join a global blue chip consulting/service company and to gain work experience onsite at a SuperMajor Operator.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

The successful candidates will be functioning as a Data Manager. The roles & responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
  • Performing import, export, transfer and reformatting of seismic data such as 2D, 3D & 4D seismic data, navigation data, seismic faults and horizons
  • Maintaining audit trail of data loading, data modification and data transfer events
  • Working within the Linux/UNIX environment
  • Contributing to relevant data and information management projects e.g. upgrade of software; data clean up; documentation refresh
  • Maintaining and developing regular contact with customers and liaising with them to facilitate most efficient delivery of service requirements
  • Adopting and maintaining good data management practices e.g. timely housekeeping, quality checks
  • Working to the required standards and procedures in place and relevant to seismic data types and their management
  • Handling physical media transfers and secure distribution of seismic data from and to third parties
  • Search and retrieval of data from national data repositories where relevant e.g. Petrobank, CDA
  • Working within Landmark OpenWorks and Petrel applications
ROLE REQUIREMENTS - QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ideally the candidate will have a BSc/MSc. in a Geoscience related discipline although relevant experience would be considered a good substitute

ROLE REQUIREMENTS - SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE - TECHNICAL
  • Previous experience working within an oil company or service contractor within a technical services environment, preferably E&P data management or subsurface data management
  • Experience of Landmark and Petrel application suites
  • Good working knowledge of Linux/UNIX and Windows operating systems
  • Knowledge of seismic data types & formats and a understanding of coordinate reference systems
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE - COMPETENCIES
  • To be responsive to client needs and comfortable working on client sites
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, allowing easy liaising with internal and client staff at all levels
  • A mature and professional attitude, which will allow the able to both work independently but also be an effective team player
  • Personable, able to fit into project team working ethic of a friendly, energetic and dynamic office environment
  • Good problem solving, troubleshooting skills and customer focus, taking genuine pride in work
  • Flexibility and a willingness to work at other sites throughout Europe as required
  • An understanding of ITIL and CMMI support methodologies would be an advantage

  • Open, dependent on candidate qualifications, skills & experience
