Senior Well Engineer
If you have extensive well engineering expertise, you could help Shell to meet the world's rising demand for energy. Advanced technologies are helping us to successfully unlock new energy resources and efficiently develop existing oil and gas fields. This is your chance to be part of a skilled and dedicated team that's leading the way.
Your role, as Senior Well Engineer, will be to supervise Well Engineers and develop engineering solutions for well projects using 'limit' technology. You'll work to an overall multi-disciplinary project plan, ensuring all wells are planned and designed to meet compliance criteria including regulatory requirements. You'll also take account of technical, commercial and operational risks, as well as deadlines. The rig team will look to you for leadership, coaching and guidance - so you'll inspire and mentor them, co-ordinating all rig activities and championing best practice. Crucially, you'll be the main point of contact for HSSE (Health, Safety, Security and Environment). You'll set exemplary HSSE management standards and also use your experience to influence technology strategy, by providing feedback based on your work.
With the minimum of a diploma or preferably a degree (or equivalent) in a technical or engineering subject, you will be a skilled Well Engineer. You'll have in-depth knowledge of well design theory and practice; drilling optimisation techniques; standard drilling engineering software; and the latest technology applications for well and completion design. You're also used to supervising, both in the field and in the office, using your excellent communication skills to guide and support. As well as a gift for dealing with people, you'll have a proven safety record and a good grasp of Advanced Safety Leadership techniques. If you can combine these talents with innovative thinking, teamwork skills and commercial acumen, we'd definitely like to hear from you. Experience of subsurface disciplines such as geology and petrophysics would be an advantage. Knowledge of Deliver-the-Limit (DtL) is essential.
Join us and you'll be supported to follow the Shell Group "Round 2" Distance Learning Programme with the aim of obtaining this qualification within two years.
