Completions & Well Intervention Engineer
If you have experience in completion engineering or well intervention, you could help Shell to meet the world's rising demand for energy. Advanced technologies are helping us to successfully unlock new energy resources and efficiently develop existing oil and gas fields. This is your chance to be part of a skilled and dedicated team that's leading the way.
Your challenge will be to define the control criteria and develop, evaluate and design completions for both new wells, and wells requiring intervention. It will be down to you to determine the operating envelope and to provide solutions that control corrosion and maintain lifecycle integrity as much as possible. You'll also be expected to provide well-site personnel with technical advice and detailed completion programmes. In some cases you may have to support field staff directly on site and make sure that all operations comply with company procedures, policies and guidelines. You could be working with Drilling Engineers, Sub-surface Engineers and a whole range of other professionals. The secret is to optimise field development strategies and share your learning wherever possible.
This degree of teamwork requires great interpersonal skills and the ability to work in mixed cultural teams, where not everyone's first language may be English. You'll communicate clearly and with authority, leading by example and providing expertise. Your knowledge will be based on the minimum of a diploma or preferably a degree (or equivalent) in a technical or engineering subject, plus experience in completion engineering or well intervention. Ideally, you'll be familiar with wireline and coiled tubing operations; production theory; completion theory; work-over programming; and sand control. Whatever your background, you'll be up-to-date with the latest technology related to well completions and aware of the technical and commercial issues associated with the development and production of oil and gas. A capable professional, you'll strive for the highest standards and take on new responsibilities whenever required.
Join us and you'll be supported to follow the Shell Group "Round 2" Distance Learning Programme with the aim of obtaining this qualification within two years.
