Conduct research in the area of basin dynamics

The Opportunity

The Postdoctoral Fellow will work on our ARC-funded Linkage Project "Kinematica: Inference-Based Rapid Resource Exploration Scenario Testing" within the School of Minerals and Energy Resources Engineering. The Postdoctoral Fellow will investigate the numerical modelling of coupling fluid migration and basin development, capturing the first-order physics in an intuitive model-testing driven approach. The Fellow will closely collaborate with a team of university-based researchers and engineers from industry partners and will be responsible for the implementation of the software in the project, version control and releases for our partners as well as benchmarking the software's performance and leading associated publications.

Selection Criteria

  • PhD (or soon to be awarded) in science or engineering.
  • Able to conduct independent research with limited supervision with a track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
  • Able to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
  • Experience in programming and software development
  • Able to plan, facilitate and document multi-stakeholder workshops as part of research or capacity building engagements
  • Willingness to travel and work with the partners.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
