Information Management Team Lead - Facilities Engineering

Job Description

As a senior member of the management team of a Major Oil and Gas Project, the post-holder is accountable for all aspects of Engineering Information Management (IM) throughout the project, including the information required to support ongoing Operations activities throughout the life of the asset.

Working for Venture's upstream clients, the role is accountable for Engineering Information Management aspects of Major Capital Projects. Duties may involve advising clients on a project's IM strategy and its implementation. It may also require working as a senior member of a project management team to manage engineering information throughout a project, including the information required to support ongoing Operations activities throughout the life of the asset.

The scope of "engineering information" covered includes all physical and electronic engineering documents and drawings, digital data and 2-D/3-D CAD models and datasets where applicable.

Person / Experience Required

  • Definition and communication of project Engineering Information Strategy
  • Establishing required processes, procedures, information systems and services
  • Building and managing an IM team with appropriate skills and experience
  • Facilitating collaborative working between the parties involved
  • Engaging Operator's staff to ensure they define and prepare to receive required information
  • Liaison with IS and IT service providers, client's governance teams, etc to ensure compliance, and feedback for continuous improvement
  • Advice and reporting to the Project Management team on all IM matters.

More than anything, the successful candidate will have a passion for assisting clients' performance improvements through better management of business information in the E&P environment.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level in either an engineering or information management discipline
  • Experience in managing engineering information, substantially in Oil and Gas construction project environments
  • Substantial experience in a similar previous role

Key Skills Required

  • Client-facing consultancy and service delivery management in the upstream engineering environment (with Owner-Operators and/or EPCs)
  • Good knowledge of engineering processes and key players in the oil and gas industry
  • Knowledge of common engineering information systems environments (such as Intergraph, AVEVA and Bentley)
  • Well-developed customer relationship skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication ability
  • Ability to formulate both specific client proposals and generic new business propositions

Location

The posts will be based mainly in either the South East or Aberdeen, with some possibilities to travel or work overseas with clients. Clients and assignments will vary from time to time (requiring some flexibility in location etc.)
