Job Overview: An integrated geophysical Company offering seismic acquisition, processing and interpretation services is expanding and seeks Explorationists to support their new ventures Multi-Client operations. Applicants are invited with a good background in basin analysis/petroleum geology and the ability to research and integrate both well and seismic data in order to determine and highlight prospectively. This role offers a great opportunity to develop not only your technical geoscience skills but also your understanding of the exploration business. The Company is looking for junior to senior level personnel to support their growing Multi-Client business.

With a highly experienced team in place to oversee the day-to-day testing, parameterisation and ensuring geophysical integrity, the Company is aggressively pursuing opportunities across many regions. Their focus is to provide the best image by using the latest available technologies that will best leverage environmental and client requirements. They currently operate a fleet of 2D and 3D seismic acquisition vessels deployed around the globe and are in the process of further developing their capacity in both seismic acquisition and processing. They offer clients a fully integrated service as required, from acquiring the seismic data, processing and interpreting it.

With a good understanding of exploration geology you will be a valuable asset to this Multi-Client Group, helping them to identify new prospects and clearly explaining the technical hydrocarbon prospectively internally and to clients.

Responsibilities:Reporting to the Multi-Client VP, your key tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Become competent in the use of the Company's technologies, workflows, MC Libraries and practices.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the Company's exploration goals and prospects. Be proactive in promoting this goal.
  • Establish strong internal working relations within the Multi-Client and Processing departments to generate new ideas for exploration activity.
  • Be resourceful in researching and collating all relevant geological and geophysical data and evaluation reports available for the identified basin/region. This may come from the Company's MC library, the Client and/or the public domain.
  • Utilising industry standard geoscience software (e.g. Kingdom), interpret all available geophysical and geological data with a view to understanding the petroleum geology of the area. You will integrate all available 2D and 3D seismic in this interpretation and also review existing geological studies and reports to support and corroborate your findings.
  • Create prospect maps and work up new geological plays for potential exploration.
  • Generate geological reports detailing the prospectivity of a given area of interest.
  • Assist in the preparation of justification documents for each MC project identified.
  • Attend client meetings with MC/New Ventures, clearly articulating the geological prospectivity of the area to the client.
  • Working closely with MC marketing personnel, assist in promoting MC surveys and data libraries available.
  • For senior explorationists - support and mentor more junior staff.
  • Be proactive keeping abreast of industry trends relating to geological evaluations and promotion of the Company's services and reputation.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:

  • A Degree in a related Earth Science subject essential. MSc level in stratigraphy, structural or Petroleum Geology/Geophysics is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 3 years' oil and gas industry experience with a strong focus on exploration essential. New Venture background highly desired.
  • Previous experience undertaking geological/geophysical interpretations essential. Ability to identify and collage relevant data (e.g well, seismic, reports…) from client, public domain, or the Company's MC libraries.
  • Previous experience leading or managing prospectivity studies highly desirable.
  • Keen interest in exploration activities essential.
  • Strong understanding of how geophysical data and techniques (i.e. processing and interpretation) are applied to geological modelling.
  • Some experience using industry standard geoscience interpretation software essential (e.g. SeisWorks, Petrel, SMT-Kingdom, StratWorks…). Kingdom experience highly desired
  • Self-confident - ability to promote and articulate prospectivity potential to multi clients.
  • Team player -the ability to interact effectively across functions and levels with Company, clients to deliver success.
  • Strong project management skills - can work in a professional and timely manner.
  • Excellent oral and written skills.
  • Have attention to detail but the vision to see the big picture.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required.

Package: The Company requires 2 to 3 Explorationists and depending on skills experience, a Base of £40K - £100K is on offer plus Company benefits.
