Job Overview: A leading International Seismic Service Company in the upstream oil and gas industry seeks a Junior Depth Imaging Specialist to support their depth imaging services and offer technical advice to clients. Applicants are invited with at least 2 years oil and gas industry experience and some level of depth imaging expertise and exposure to a variety of seismic data and techniques. The Company is committed to providing training and support as required.

The Company has grown dramatically in recent years through acquisition, increased investment, a strong executive management team and effective sales strategies. The Company has a strong reputation as a key leader in integrated seismic services. They provide innovative services ranging from Multi-Client to Seismic Imaging services from offices in four continents.

The Company has provided 3D and 2D pre-stack depth migration services globally for over a decade. In recent years, they have invested heavily in depth imaging capabilities and have amassed global expertise of different data sets and depth imaging techniques. Their experienced depth imaging teams use leading industry Pre-Stack Depth Migration and grid tomography software for processing and leading industry velocity modelling software for efficient and coherent 3D velocity modelling of both 3D and 2D Surveys. The demand for their services is increasing and hence the need for further expansion.

Working alongside a team of multi-disciplined geoscientists, you will be nurtured and supported in your role. As you progress you will be given additional responsibilities and every opportunity to excel.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Depth Supervisor, your key tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Become competent in the Company's technologies, processes and practices.
  • Undertake depth imaging tasks and deliver services to a high quality in a timely and professional manner.
  • Strive to become a key focal Depth Imaging Expert within the Company.
  • Provide guidance to other members of staff on parameter testing and for parameter selection and data quality.
  • As you progress, provide training for other members of staff in the use of depth processing software, as required.
  • Accompany team leaders, line managers and sales personnel to client visits as requested (UK or International) to provide technical input.
  • Assist with production of data examples for brochures and help produce technical marketing material for marketing department.
  • Strive to assure that production processing sequences are optimum and efficient.
  • Share your depth imaging knowledge and expertise to internal colleagues and assist in building the Company's depth imaging knowledge base.
  • Develop and maintain good client relations at all times.
  • Undertake trial line processing as requested.
  • Keep up to date with contemporary geophysical techniques.
  • Assist commercial managers in bid proposals for depth imaging services as required.
  • Stay abreast of industry developments in depth imaging techniques.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:

  • A Degree in Earth Sciences, Geophysics, Physics or related Discipline essential.
  • A minimum of 2 years seismic processing experience essential.
  • Some experience in depth imaging techniques essential.
  • Experience in building 2D and 3D velocity/depth models essential
  • Experience in performing pre-stack depth migrations advantageous.
  • Exposure to a variety of seismic data and techniques, both land and marine essential.
  • Previous experience using Geodepth software highly advantageous.
  • Can work independently and also be an excellent team player, with the ability to work with all levels within the Company to accomplish goals.
  • Self-motivated individual, with entrepreneurial attitude and drive to succeed essential.
  • Commercially astute - ability to identify new business opportunities when talking with Clients or from networking in the industry.
  • Good project management skills -the ability to prioritise competing demands, focus, and make decisions.
  • Innovative individual with the ability and desire to generate creative solutions to deal with work problems and opportunities.
  • Strong communication skills - ability to clearly convey information and technical content internally, to partners and clients.
  • Good client facing skills with the ability to liaise with clients effectively.
  • Must be service orientated.

Package: An attractive salary of between £30K - £40K plus company benefits is on offer dependent on skills and experience.
