Job Overview: A leading global oil services Company, offering a broad range of services such as seismic data acquisition, processing, reservoir analysis/interpretation and multi-client library datasets, seeks an SENIOR OPERATIONS GEOPHYSICIST to assist in the planning and execution of acquisition and processing projects owned by the MultiClient Europe group. Applicants are invited with strong operations experience in the seismic acquisition industry. Experience from survey planning to the delivery of value added services such as processing and reservoir services is highly desired. The Company operate the world's most advanced seismic survey fleet, conducting multi-client surveys worldwide. They have a library of high quality MultiClient data, which includes data from the world's major hydrocarbon basins, and additional 3rd party 3D data which provide regional 3D contiguous coverage in key basins. They are recognised for using the very best acquisition equipment and processing techniques.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the VP Geophysical Projects (Europe), you will be responsible for:

  • Become competent in the technologies, workflows and practices of the MultiClient business across Europe.
  • Working along-side an established team of experienced business development and operations geophysicists, you will ensure the geophysical integrity for all MultiClient Europe seismic work programs assist in the planning and execution of acquisition and processing projects.
Acquisition:
  • Participate in Client meetings in the project initiation stage, to understand Client requirements.
  • Geophysical survey planning (interact with Client, Geophysical Support, Data Processing etc.) to decide acquisition geometry and parameters.
  • Operational survey planning (interact with contract project managers and operations, permitting, client reps, environmental / fisheries etc.).
  • Survey execution - be the responsible internal client of the survey, be the link to the external client(s).
  • Manage all geophysical decisions
(Re-) Processing:
  • Participate in Client meetings in the project initiation stage, to understand Client requirements.
  • Project planning (interact with Client and Data Processing) to decide / agree scope of work.
  • Project execution - be the responsible internal client of the survey, be the link to the external Client(s).
  • Manage all geophysical decisions.
Reservoir services:
  • Participate in internal MultiClient Europe and/or Client meetings in the project initiation stage, to understand requirements.
  • Project planning (interact with MultiClient Europe, Client, Data Processing and Reservoir) to decide / agree scope of work.
  • Project execution - be the responsible internal client of the survey, be the link to the external Client(s).
  • Manage geophysical decisions in cooperation with MultiClient Europe business development and sales groups.
Marketing and sales:
  • Participate in the marketing and sales of projects / data, both in planning stage and after data delivery.
  • Follow technology developments very closely and work with VP Geophysical Projects to ensure we are in the forefront of testing and applying new technology.

Working out of the Company's Oslo office, you be given a great deal of autonomy and support to assist in the planning and execution of acquisition and processing projects. The ability to manage operations across the various stages of the project delivery is key to the success of this role. Preferences: The successful candidate will have:

  • Degree in an Earth Science related subject essential. Preferably a post-graduate degree in Geophysics.
  • A broad range of operation expertise in the seismic acquisition industry essential. Preferably experience across marine survey project initiation, planning and execution of acquisition and processing projects.
  • The ability to work across various technical groups (acquisition, processing and reservoir services) to achieve and deliver a high-end solution to the client is key).
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English - the ability to communicate and collaborate across a broad spectrum of nationalities and cultures - both internally with service providers across acquisition, data processing and reservoir services and externally with clients and third party service providers.
  • Excellent project management skills - the ability to manage all aspects of projects across various teams. You could be managing the operations of multiple projects concurrently.
  • Attention to detail with a strong focus on delivering high end quality services across all aspects of operations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - the ability to work at all levels within the Company to accomplish goals.
  • Ability to effectively represent the Company externally at industry conferences and events.
  • Highly flexible - ability to adapt to new project challenges and work practices.
  • Drive and ambition to succeed.
  • Willingness to travel.
