A leading global seismic solutions Company providing advanced acquisition equipment, software and planning, and seismic processing services to the oil and gas industry seek Senior Seismic Acquisition Analysts to work predominately in their Edinburgh office with some offshore visits. Following appropriate training, you will assist clients in optimising the design and implementation of complex seismic acquisition surveys and manage this process with the end client. Applicants are invited with previous experience in using navigation systems on 3D marine seismic vessels, highly analytical with a strong appreciation of acquisition systems. Role offers extensive training in the Company's leading industry navigation and acquisition software, workflows and practices. The Company is a global provider of survey design, real time navigation, and positioning systems and offers an integrated family of products addressing the navigation and data management requirements of 2D, 3D and 4D seismic surveys in towed streamer and seabed operations. They operate in all seismic data acquisition environments, including, marine and transition zone, as well as challenging applications, such as full-wave and 4D.

Working with clients across oil companies and seismic acquisition contractors, they have earned an international reputation for anticipating client needs and providing tools which deliver dramatic efficiency improvements and operational cost savings in the highly competitive seismic acquisition market. With a large team of developers, they can provide bespoke solutions to adopt to survey environmental conditions and client needs. With their integrated robust systems and survey design analysis solutions, they provide geophysicists with the tools and expertise to effectively design, model, plan and execute even the most complex seismic surveys

All services are delivered by expert personnel and backed up by an extensive library of software tools. With your strong understanding of navigation systems, you will work along-side this team of experts, where you will quickly gain exposure to their acquisition workflows and practices. You will be trained in all aspects of the Company's navigation and acquisition software and will work towards assisting clients in optimising the design and implementation of seismic acquisition surveys and managing this process. As a senior analyst, you will manage more junior Acquisition Analysts as required. You will be supported and mentored and will take on additional tasks and responsibilities as you progress in your training and development.

The role is based in the Company's offices in Edinburgh, but involves offshore work on a crew vessel. These vessels may be based in West Africa, North Sea and Australia, etc. 50 - 80 days offshore work anticipated in the first year, and then increasing in subsequent years. When offshore you will receive a Field Allowance. Extended periods of circa 6 weeks may be spent offshore.

Responsibilities: Reporting to Services Manager this role encompasses many functions offshore and onshore including:

Office Based

  • Become competent in the Company's software, workflows and practices. Full training will be provided.
  • Analyse historic data and use to identify optimum design of future seismic acquisition surveys.
  • Build good working relationships with Clients.
  • Be the main point of contact with the Client regarding the survey design - understand their needs, constraints and challenges. Manage the survey design project throughout, delivering a successfully agreed survey plan.
  • Provide supervision of Seismic Acquisition Analysts as required by the project.
  • Provide support and mentoring to these junior Acquisition Analysts.
  • Work closely with the development team to help ensure optimal product functionality. Aid in the design of additional functionality and new products.
  • Assist and coordinate testing of all software and as required.
  • Assist with various data management issues such as recording and management of incoming and outgoing data.

Offshore Based

  • Utilise functionality of products to enhance survey acquisition.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems and report appropriately.
  • Assist and coordinate testing of all software and as required.
  • Be proactive in checking that the survey complies with agreed parameters.
  • Liaise with clients in a professional and timely manner.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:

  • Degree in a numerate discipline such as geophysics, maths, physics, computer science, or similar preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years oil and gas industry experience essential with some experience of using navigation systems on 3D marine seismic vessels.(e.g experience as a navigator, shift leader, surveyor or/and QC Geophysicist desired).
  • Proven experience of using related seismic survey software essential (e.g Integrated Navigation Systems such as Spectra, Orca, Reflex, Gator, TriNav… highly desirable). Full training will be provided.
  • A good understanding of seismic acquisition workflows - Strive to build your knowledge of the various practices globally.
  • Proven experience of using Seismic positioning systems such as DGPS, RGPS, acoustics… or/and seismic surveying software such as MESA highly desired. Full training will be provided.
  • Strong Project Management skills essential - the ability to liaise with clients, understand their needs and to manage the survey plan and analysts involved to deliver a highly successful project. Previous experience managing survey related projects desired.
  • Previous experience working in 3D marine acquisition survey design highly advantageous.
  • Previous experience leading, supervising or managing a team desired.
  • Strong analytical and numerate skills - the ability to identify and resolve problems essential.
  • Basic Linux skills highly advantageous.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications essential.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and spoken) - the ability to convey technical solutions in a coherent manner required.
  • Good client liaison skills, as you will be dealing with clients on a regular basis.
  • Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised for periods away from home in an offshore environment.
  • Self-confident - able to travel in confidence (all arrangements made by Company)
  • Service orientated - strive to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction essential
  • Team Player - must work effectively across all groups and clients. Be proactive in contributing to the accomplishment of goals.
  • Willingness to learn, flexibility and desire to undertake the role and succeed.
  • Able to travel as required.

Package: A Base Salary of £25K - £31K (GBP) plus offshore allowance of circa £160- £185 per day. First Year Package estimated at £33,000 - £45,800 (Base plus 50-80 days field allowance). Plus a full range of Company Benefits
