Job Overview: A leading Industry E&P Software Global Company, focused on the development and deployment of software for the oil & gas industry seeks a Petrophysical Support Specialist to provide pro-active assistance to clients in their petrophysical analysis and evaluations. You may work from the Company's UK office or onsite, with oil operator clients. Applicants are invited with some experience using Petrophysical software and the ability to support and offer guidance to end-clients in petrophysical techniques. The Company offers an integrated portfolio of productivity tools and geoscience applications for geologists, geophysicists and engineers who construct subsurface models from oilfield and other measurements. These applications enable decision makers at oil operator clients to make decisions with less uncertainty, minimized risk and with more confidence in their exploration and production activities. Their formation evaluation application suite is considered to be unmatched in terms of its best-in-class petrophysical and geological analysis tools, well data management, superior graphics, and robust data integration.

The Company's global exploration & production client base includes in excess of 600+ national oil companies (NOCs) and numerous medium-to-large to super-major exploration and production oil companies.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the UK Team Lead, this role encompasses many functions including:

  • Become technically competent in the Company's application suite, work practices and workflows. Full training will be provided, with key focus on their petrophysical suite.
  • Establish and build strong working relationships with your client base in your region (i.e. EAME). You will understand their technical geoscience challenges and constraints.
  • Identify their technologies used, working practices, workflows etc. Working closely with clients, identify how you can assist in supporting their petrophysical analysis and evaluations.
  • You will strive to help maximise client's workflows using the technologies efficiently and effectively. You will assist in solving simple to complex problems, assessing all possible scenarios before advising on the most suitable solution.
  • You will have a proactive approach with your client base - contacting them on a regular basis, understanding their work demands and accommodating their need for petrophysical support or/and training.
  • Be proactive in raising the awareness of new petrophysical functionality within your client base. Also work with clients in preparing case studies that would raise the reputation of this functionality.
  • Work closely with the management and software developers, reporting known problems and manage the resolution back to the end clients.
  • Provide user training in the petrophysical suite as required.
  • Working with the sales team, you will demonstrate key workflows to prospective clients and participate at industry events as required.
  • Keep abreast of current and future developments of the Company's software suite and other industry technologies.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
  • A Degree in a Geoscience related subject essential (Preferably Geology)
  • Strong background in petrophysical techniques and workflows essential.
  • A good understanding of the exploration - production workflows and how petrophysics adds value to this workflow essential.
  • Some exposure using, supporting or/and training using Petrophysical applications (e.g. Geolog, Techlog, Elan, IP ... ) essential.
  • Experience using other recognized geological and/or geophysical applications highly advantageous.
  • A strong proactive approach to assisting clients essential.
  • Experience in providing Petrophysical technical support within the Oil and Gas industry is highly advantageous.
  • Good IT skills, with familiarity with Unix/Linux environments.
  • Analytical and trouble-shooting skills, with the ability to identify and resolve client issues.
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux and Windows networks desired.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (both written and oral) with the ability to listen and articulate clearly, conveying effective and accurate support to the end-user
  • Highly flexible - ability to adapt to new project challenges and work practices.
  • Ambitious with high energy levels, drive, willingness and enthusiasm.
  • The ability to take ownership of activities and to ensure successful completion.
  • Ability to travel as required.

Package: A Base Salary of £55K - £65K GBP plus performance bonus, and a full range of Company Benefits is on offer dependent on skills and experience.
