Job Overview: An international gas company seeks a Senior Reservoir Engineer to forecast production, assess reserves and to provide general reservoir engineering expertise. Applicants are invited with a minimum of 5 years' experience in reservoir activities and previous experience of fields in North Africa would be an advantage.

Our Client is responsible for Oil & Gas exploration and production activities, including developing new resources to secure long-term energy supplies and purchasing stakes in oil and gas fields or acquiring exploration and production licenses throughout the world. The Company is currently undertaking Exploration and Development in three main target regions: North Sea, Russia and North Africa.

Responsibilities: The role encompasses many functions including:

  • Become competent in the Company's services, work flows and practices.
  • Design and comment on development plans for operated and non-operated fields.
  • Optimize reservoir management.
  • Co-ordinate reservoir engineering activities between the Company, partners and consultants.
  • Identify opportunities to create value.
  • Produce production profiles for the Company's assets when required, including annual planning and reserves reporting.
  • Monitor production data and maximize production and reserves for the Company's assets.
  • Participate in peer reviews.
  • Support evaluations of new business opportunities.
  • Represent the Company at technical and operating committee meetings.
  • Appraisal and development planning for the Company's North African oil and gas fields.
  • Production optimisation and waterflood management.
  • Mature field management, infill drilling projects

This challenging and exciting opportunity is ideal for a self-motivated and suitably qualified Reservoir Engineer who has some experience but looking for their next step within an operator.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:

  • Degree in Engineering, Mathematics or appropriate related subject essential, preferably an MSc in Petroleum Engineering.
  • At least 5 years relevant oil industry experience essential, some or all of it with an operator desirable.
  • Competent user of reservoir engineering software (Eclipse, PETEX suite, Saphire, Petrel RE) essential
  • Ability to quantify risk and uncertainty and to understand the impact on production forecasts and decisions essential
  • Experience of fields in North Africa highly advantageous
  • Working knowledge of other disciplines (geology, geophysics, drilling, production operations, economics) highly advantageous
  • Enjoys being part of an integrated, multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to organise, manage time and prioritise
  • Pro-active, self-starter
  • Strongly analytical - Possesses the ability to utilize all the available data and apply the appropriate analytical and numerical techniques
  • Strong communication skills - ability to listen and communicate clearly and concisely within a multi-cultural and multi-discipline environment. Comfortable presenting to technical peers and Executive Management
  • Other languages (French or Arabic) would be an advantage.
