Job Overview: A fast growing dynamic Company, established as the leading provider of exploration, development and reservoir software for the oil and gas industry, seeks a Geoscience Application Support Specialist to provide post sales technical support to Clients and assist with installations and data conversions. Applicants are invited with a technical support background within the Oil & Gas industry combined with strong customer liaison skills. The role offers a great deal of variety and scope and has the potential to evolve to more managerial type roles.

They were the first in the market to develop geoscience interpretation tools for the Microsoft Windows environment, helping clients accelerate hydrocarbon exploration, collaboration and decision-making. Their major success has resulted in their position as the global leaders of Windows based software for exploration and production. Within excess of 3000 global software sales, it is used widely by geoscientists from small independents to prestigious major oil companies in 100 countries, to evaluate potential reservoirs and plan field development.

The Company is now part of a major matrix organisation with over 5000 employees, and is a recognised leading provider of information in the global market and economy, providing a strong synergy for market growth. Together, they have the ability to offer mission-critical geoscience software, associated services such as training, and information and data products to clients globally.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director - Customer Care, you will be expected to:

  • Become competent in the Company's geoscience software applications, work practices and workflows. Full training will be provided.
  • Handle technical queries from colleagues and clients received into the Technical Support Team.
  • Get to know your client base, build relationships with them, and understand how they utilise their existing technologies, workflows and process. Be proactive in offering advice and guidance in assisting them to maximise their productivity.
  • Provide Technical support to clients which may include assisting with workflow queries, installations and data conversions amongst others.
  • Resolve general and complex client inquiries, ranging from basic to advanced technical support functions.
  • Ensure that requests for geoscience support are logged, tracked and resolved in a timely and professional manner.
  • Replicate client issues to address problems, and communicate this to help develop the team's goals and processes.
  • Execute testing and feedback on new product releases if needed.
  • Provide assistance to create training materials for employees and clients.
  • Create, update and suggest customer support workflow documentation for internal and external use.
  • Keep abreast of industry and Company software developments and trends.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:

  • Geoscience Degree essential, MSc or PhD preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year geoscience work experience within the Oil and Gas industry essential. Preferably in a geoscience support or training role.
  • A good understanding of industry standard software, in particular SMT Kingdom essential.
  • Excellent client facing skills essential e.g. providing geoscience application support, geoscience training, or/and pre or post-sales support.
  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems and Internet functionality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - with the ability to develop good working relationships with clients.
  • Excellent communication skills - the ability to understand and appreciate challenges, constraints and workflows.
  • Highly analytical with strong multi-tasking capabilities.
  • Enthusiasm, drive and ambition to succeed to take on more tasks and responsibilities as your progress in your career.
  • Previous experience using case logging and CRM systems desired.

Package: Dependent on skills and experience, a Base Salary of £28K - £35K plus Company Benefits. Role offers a great working dynamic environment.
