Job Overview: An established Company providing software and services for well monitoring to the Upstream Oil and Gas Industry seeks a Service Delivery Engineer. With experience of deploying internet or/and cloud technologies, you will take ownership of the real time system which includes tasks ranging from setting up IT infrastructure, servers and databases to handling data mappings and ongoing real time data feeds. Naturally installation and configuration training in the proprietary software will be provided. The key requirements are strong real time internet/cloud competency, strong client communication skills, flexibility and desire to undertake the role and succeed. Previous experience of drilling operations and geoscience subsurface highly desired but training provided.

The Company established in the early 1990's serves the international oil and gas exploration industry, working with in excess of 100 clients across 50 countries. Their distributed team of geoscientists, engineers and software developers work globally and provide systems, tools and solutions which efficiently turn Client's well data into secure, easily shared information. Their unique software portfolio provides clients with tools to quickly look and analysis geological and petrophysical data; store and share all drilling data and operations information on a cloud data management system; and provides a fully managed and internet hosted service for all well data.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Software Delivery Manager this role encompasses many functions including:

  • Become competent in the use of the Company's system environments, data feeds from the well site, workflows and practices. Training will be provided as required.
  • Liaise directly with Clients on data delivery requirements for their cloud-based well monitoring project.
  • Configure, monitor, maintain and support real-time data feeds and infrastructure for well monitoring systems
  • Deploy, test and troubleshoot internal development releases of the system
  • Display a clear understanding of drilling and subsurface data - training provided as required.
  • Work closely with the business, clients and other third-party suppliers to resolve any technical matters that may arise - develop and nurture these relationships.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of WITS0 and WITSML (Wellsite Information Transfer Specification Markup Language) Data Standards highly desired.
  • Provide service delivery support to world-wide customers
  • Work and communicate effectively within a small local and internationally based team
  • Assist with internal desktop support for a small team (Microsoft-based).
  • Although you would usually be office-based, some projects may involve travel and spending time away from home attending meetings or visiting other Company offices, contractors and suppliers.
  • Provide weekend support as a part of a rota - to be discussed.
  • Work in a timely and professional manner - ensuring that the client satisfaction is secured across all aspects of service delivery.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:

  • Degree level essential. Preferably in a science or engineering based subject.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience of working in a similar role (with preference given to individuals who have worked in RTOCs (Real Time Operating Centres).
  • Experience working with either an oil and gas Service company or an Oil Operator highly desired.
  • Knowledge of the oil and gas industry highly desired - preferably the well monitoring environment where you would have a good understanding of drilling and subsurface geoscience data.
  • Working knowledge of IIS and internet architecture, TCP/IP, SQL Server or/and Scada essential.
  • Working knowledge of the data standards WITS0 or/and WITSML (i.e. Wellsite Information Transfer Specification Markup Language) advantageous. Training provided.
  • Previous experience working in a dynamic but small team highly desired.
  • Competent in using MS Office suite.
  • Experience of Lotus Notes desirable.
  • Strong project management and reporting skills essential - must be able to multitask and be methodical in approach - can prioritise and work to deadlines.
  • A team player but also a proactive self-starter with a 'can-do' mind-set.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to enable effective communication with diverse nationalities and industry disciplines.
  • Excellent communication skills - ability to relay technical information in an easy to understand manner.

Package: A Base Salary of £33K - £37K plus discretionary bonus scheme, 25 days holiday and Company Benefits is on offer dependent on skills and experience. There may be some flexibility on base salary for a high calibre candidate.
