Job Overview: A leading global oil services Company, offering a broad range of services such as acquisition, processing, reservoir services, seeks an Interpretation Geophysicist to augment their Exploration Interpretation Division which undertakes both internal MultiClient data based projects and North Sea and International projects on behalf of their oil operator clients. Applicants are invited with 7+ years' industry experience, technical hands-on geophysical interpretation skills with experience in regional interpretations, integrated field studies, exploration studies, and/or asset evaluations. The Company is looking to boost their team considerably and are also interested in very senior level applicants with 15 years+ experience. Proven project management expertise in managing all or some aspects of geoscience projects greatly desired. In this role you will gain exposure in challenging and exciting North Sea and International projects and will be supported in developing your technical and project management skills.

The Company provides a broad range of seismic and reservoir related services, including acquisition, processing, interpretation, and field evaluations. The Reservoir Services Group includes the supply of interpretation and reservoir characterisation services to a range of clients across Europe Africa & Middle East (EAME) region. The Interpretation Division within this group provides consultancy services across the whole value chain from basin studies to field development, from small evaluations to exploration asset management. As a result of continued success and planned expansion, this position will further strengthen their EAME team.

The Company is a world leader in marine seismic data acquisition and they have developed a library of high quality multi-client data, which includes data from all the world's major hydrocarbon basins. The Interpretation Division works extensively with these data libraries as well as client proprietary data. The Company's data libraries include some of the most accurate global data sets in the market (as a result of latest acquisition equipment and tools) and new frontier data. The range of data sets available to work with is extensive and the quality well established.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Interpretation Director of Reservoir Services, EAME this role encompasses many functions dependent on your skills and experience including:

  • Undertake technical geoscience project work including stand-alone interpretation projects and integrated reservoir field / basin scale projects.
  • Technical hands on contribution - Integrate geophysical interpretation into multi-disciplinary studies.
  • Provide strong project management leadership for projects you undertake - manage project costing's and budget, resource requirements, timeframes, quality assurance, forecasting and reporting, monitoring and control, and overall a high level of service delivery with the client.
  • Present technical findings, both formally and informally, during and at the completion of project work.
  • Act as a link between reservoir characterisation and geological staff.
  • Work in a professional and timely manner and within timeframes and budgets agreed.
  • Mentor, support more junior members of the team. Be proactive in transferring technical excellences.
  • On an ad-hoc basis present evaluations to clients and support the business development effort, by presenting technical capabilities to potential and existing clients.
  • Be aware of industry best practice and trends.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:

  • Geophysical or Geological post-grad qualification desired.
  • Minimum of 7 years oil and gas industry experience with a strong technical background in reservoir or exploration geophysics, and seismic interpretation essential.
  • Previous experience working with oil operator preferred.
  • Good hands-on experience in: seismic interpretation, time-to-depth conversion, velocity analysis, integrated field studies, exploration studies or/and asset evaluations essential.
  • Good project management skills essential. The ability to manage a team of geoscientists, budgets, forecasting, and timeframes through to successful service delivery to end client desired.
  • Appreciation/knowledge of geological interpretations essential.
  • Some knowledge of seismic data processing and reservoir characterisation workflows advantageous.
  • Good working knowledge of a range of industry standard software used in this area essential (e.g. Kingdom, Landmark-SeisWorks, Petrosys, Petrel…)
  • Previous experience of mentoring or supporting junior staff desired.
  • Relationship builder - ability to build strong networks, both internal and external, in a variety of cultures. Can interact with all levels of management and across a range of functions.
  • Excellent oral and written skills - comfortable presenting formally and informally to groups of people.
  • Confident, self-motivated and responsive individual with sound judgement and pragmatic in approach.
  • The ability and experience to succeed in a multi-cultural working environment.
  • Ability to travel as required.

Package: An attractive Base Salary of £60K - £100K (GBP), plus annual performance related bonus, 25 days holiday, and a range of Company Benefits is on offer dependent on skills and experience. There may be some flexibility on salary for high calibre candidates.
