Job Overview: A fully integrated E&P Company with oil and gas interests in the North Sea, the Celtic Sea and on the Faroese Continental Shelf is seeking an exploration focussed Geological Advisor. The successful candidate will join its team based in London and will lead the geological resource for the Company and will help shape the future direction of its geological activities. Applicants are invited with a strong exploration geology focus and a desire to lead geological activities across the Company, and the ambition to help build upon a successful track record.

The Company invests in smaller prospects or discoveries and have been very successful in this approach. They continue to have a successful production record, and this increased cash generation enables them to take advantage of investment opportunities and expand their portfolio. As a dynamic fast growing Company, they are focused on forming partnerships where commercially astute, and have currently partnerships inplace with more than 20 international oil companies operating in North West Europe.

The Company has a team of around 30 full-time employees, which enables them to maintain certain core technical competencies in-house, (e.g. geological, geophysical and reservoir engineering expertise) as well as commercial insight. They use external advisers as required.

The Company has a key focus on expansion and continually seek to build and optimise their licence portfolio by developing and maturing existing licences, by acquiring new licences through licensing rounds or by farming into licences held by other companies.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the UK Exploration Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Take a lead role in all geological activities within the Company, with special focus on exploration in UK, Faroes, Netherlands and Ireland.
  • Develop prospects on existing acreage, through regional and detailed prospect work.
  • Add to the Company's portfolio through new ventures, farmins and licence rounds.
  • Represent at technical committee meetings.
  • Develop exploration and appraisal well locations.
  • Mentor and support more junior staff.
  • Keep abreast of licensing rounds in UK, Faroes, Netherlands and Ireland.

It is a great time to join this expanding oil and gas Company in this most senior geological role where you will influence and lead future exploration development.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:

  • Degree in geoscience, preferably with a higher degree.
  • A minimum of 12 years but preferably with circa 15 years'+ experience, some spent with an operator essential.
  • Experience in north see basins essential. UK North Sea experience highly desired.
  • In-depth technical knowledge, preferably a mix of exploration and development experience with exposure to licensing rounds and new venture activities.
  • Experience in prospect generation and project evaluation.
  • Good interpersonal skills - the ability to work at all levels within the Company to accomplish goals as well as a good communicator.
  • Self-motivated - must be able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Drive and ambition to succeed.
  • Some Travel may be required.

Package: This is a senior level role and the Company is offering a Base Salary of £85K - £120K plus Pension of 15%, bonus up to 30%, plus health, life & travel insurance & gym membership. There is some flexibility on base salary dependent on the calibre of the candidate.
