A leading provider of information to the global Energy, Defence, Power, and the Environmental Industries, seeks a Petrotechnical Consultancy Services Manager to take responsibility for managing the consultancy services team who provides training and consultancy services related to their Energy Technical products across Europe, Middle East and Africa. This team delivers services related to data scouting information as well as the geoscience portfolio of products. Applicants are invited with an oil and gas background and proven experience in managing, leading or supervising a team either involved in the delivery of training or consultancy services. The key to the role is having a keen desire to pursue this commercial/managerial role and the ability to lead, manage and motivate a team to deliver effective services throughout the region.
The Company is a recognised leading provider of information in the global market and economy, and has operated in the oil and gas industry for over 3 decades. They have a matrix organisation with over 5000 employees, operating worldwide. Their oil and gas businesses range from the provision of exploration data to providing software products and consulting services covering the full exploration and production value chain. The Company's EMEA region is highly successful with strong growth year-on-year.
The main purpose of this role is to take responsibility for the Company's petrotechnical consultancy service team who reside in their UK and Dubai offices. This team provide services relating to data management project work (e.g. data loading, migration and workflow related) and product training and mentoring relating to their energy products (i.e. economic, field development costing, and international and scouting data). In addition, this team undertake consultancy services relating to their geoscience product line, supporting operational usage, product training and workflow optimisation. The team needs to expand to cope with client demand so the role will also encompass recruitment, skill development and planning for this expansion.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Operations Director Energy Technical EMEA you will be expected to:
- Become fully aware of the Company's product lines and service offerings within the Energy Division. Understand the training and mentoring needs, workflows and challenges of clients in the EMEA region.
- Take responsibility for managing the team who provide training, mentoring, and consultancy services related to their Energy Technical products across Europe, Middle East and Africa.
- Develop strategic plans that will deliver the highest level of services to the end client, whilst maintaining profitability.
- Work closely with the Sales team to drive sales of consultancy services to reach quarterly and yearly targets for service revenue. A key focus is to increase the level of private training at client sites with the aim of continually increasing product knowledge within the user base.
- Work closely with the Regional and Product Marketing teams to raise the profile and awareness of these services, especially the training courses. Provide input into these courses, collaterals used and marketing activities.
- Interact closely with the Energy Operations team and be proactive in contributing to strategic planning for the region.
- Provide monthly analysis of revenue and planning for consultancy services across the region.
- Take responsibility for the planning of public training courses across the region both in the Company's offices (London, Dubai) and in rented facilities. Work closely with your Training Coordinator who plans all aspects of training activities.
- Resource management - ensure your team is fully versed in the Company's Energy related technologies and facilitate their internal training process. Identify skills gaps and plan for continued development of your team. Lead and manage recruitment campaigns for further expansion of the team.
- Team Building -Promote innovation through people skills, team development and motivation. Mentor and support as needed.
- Client Satisfaction - dedicated to providing premium services, you will liaise with clients to determine their perception of all service offerings, from a technical performance, quality assurance, response time, and cost effectiveness.
- Lead the regional expansion of the Company's Educational programme, to encourage participation from regional universities and promote strategic partnerships with universities.
- Monitor competition, market share and pricing for training and consultancy services within the Energy industry. Provide feedback, input and ideas for improvement to the Energy Technical Operations team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated commercially minded individual, as you will drive and manage this petrotechnical consultancy services practice across a large client base within EMEA. You will work with personnel across countries within the region, business units and technical product lines. The Company is growing dramatically and much of this growth is through acquisitions, which may bring additional Energy related product lines to this team. The role offers a great deal of autonomy and scope to further develop this consultancy practice and great potential for career progression to more senior level management positions.
Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
- Degree in an Earth Science related subject essential. Geology or Geophysics preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years in the Oil and Gas industry essential.
- Proven experience in managing, leading or supervising a team either involved in the delivery of training or consultancy services. Ability to build and motivate an effective team is key.
- A good understanding of the oil and gas life cycle and subsurface workflows.
- Strong commercial focus - able to work with the sales team to devise strategies to increase consultancy revenue.
- Strong marketing understanding - able to work with marketing personnel to raise the awareness and reputation of the services on offer.
- Strong operational and managerial abilities - ability to manage current resources and plan effectively for growth.
- Familiarity with industry competitors and trends - the completion, their offerings, strengths and weaknesses.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Secondary language advantageous.
- Strong presentation skills with some experience with Microsoft Powerpoint
- Strong technology background with ability to quickly learn and assimilate new technology products. Ability to communicate knowledge to others.
- Excellent Project Management and Organizational skills. Ability to work in an virtual, unsupervised environment and maintain initiative to accomplish goals.
- Personality and confidence to build strong relationships at all levels internally and externally and to deliver results.
- Highly articulate - ability to converse and demonstrate coherently the value proposition of well-designed training programs.
- Ability to travel which will be minimum.
Package: A Base Salary of £65K - £80K plus discretionary Bonus and attractive Company Benefits are on offer dependent on skills and experience. Role offers a great working dynamic environment.
