Job Overview: The largest independent power producer in the Middle East and North Africa and an established oil and gas operator seeks a Senior Reservoir Engineer to take both technical and operational responsibility for all reservoir engineering activities for one or more large North Sea assets. You will focus on the optimisation of current production and identify future opportunities to maximise ultimate recovery. In this senior role, you will be empowered to work on your initiative undertaking technically challenging and exciting projects. The Company with operations on four continents has a portfolio of high-quality assets in exploration and production of crude oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids, gas storage, oil & gas processing and transport. With multiple centers of excellence; 2000 employees across 40 countries; a strong management team and heavy financial investment from their Abu Dhabi parent Company, they are committed to major exploration and production expansion both in emerging and established markets worldwide.

Our Client is truly an "Energy Company" active in power generation and water desalination, oil and gas exploration and production, and emerging and innovative technologies. They are a relatively new player in the North Sea but already have in excess of 10 active assets. They have operations in the Middle East and Canada and are actively looking at additional international opportunities.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Discipline Lead for Reservoir Engineering, your primary responsibilities will be to:
  • Become competent in the Company's workflows, technologies and methodologies used.
  • Take responsibility for one or more large North Sea assets - optimise current production and identify future opportunities to maximise ultimate recovery.
  • Build close working relationships with other team members (i.e. Geologists, Geophysicists) - providing leadership in reservoir techniques.
  • Provide reservoir management of existing fields to maximise economic recovery.
  • Undertake dynamic reservoir modelling and well test analysis.
  • Generate production forecasts and reserves estimates.
  • Identify infill drilling targets /intervention opportunities.
  • Plan and execute technical programmes in conjunction with drilling/well operations teams.
  • Provide input to field development, exploration and drilling plans.
  • Participate in peer reviews, and contributes to management and joint venture partner meetings.
  • Take a lead role in supporting the Asset Development Manager in opportunity identification and maturation.
  • Supervise and co-ordinate activities of other reservoir engineers.
  • Support and mentor more junior reservoir engineers.
  • Provide strong project management and encourage across the team.
  • Monitor and apply new technologies.
  • Keep abreast of reservoir engineering practices across the industry.

Requirements: The successful candidate will have:
  • A degree in an Earth Science or engineering related subject essential. MSc in Petroleum/Reservoir Engineering desired.
  • A minimum of 10 years oil industry experience in a reservoir engineering related role essential. Some operator experience essential.
  • A strong working knowledge of reservoir engineering techniques essential.
  • UK North Sea experience and water flooding is desired but the key is strong Res Engineering background.
  • Good working knowledge of reservoir simulation and material balance software essential. Experience of using Eclipse, Petrel RE, ESEI Graph, etc.. desired.
  • A good broad understanding of reservoir management essential.
  • Proven experience of interacting with production and operation departments essential.
  • Can work effectively independently and in a multi-disciplinary team essential.
  • Good understanding of the commercial implications of reservoir engineering activities essential.
  • Up to date knowledge of technological developments, industry initiatives essential.
  • Experience of economic evaluations desired.
  • Highly analytical - the ability to resolve complex problems and to recommend creative solutions essential.
  • Willingness to coach/mentor more junior staff essential. Proven experience desired.
  • Knowledge/experience of Enhanced Oil Recovery techniques desired - Company is actively involved in assessing feasibility for their NS assets.
  • Excellent communication skills - the ability to devise and give presentations and technical reports in a coherent manner.
  • Pragmatic team player who can work at all levels to accomplish goals; has the ability to see the big picture and assertive to make bold and entrepreneurial recommendations.
  • Ambitious - desire to succeed in this dynamic growth operator - to develop and grow with the role - take on new challenges and to exceed expectations.
  • Entrepreneurial with a strong desire to be successful in developing oil and gas assets.
  • Must be able to travel internationally as required.
