Job Overview: A leading global Services Company in the Oil and Gas industry is seeking a Strategic Account Manager to lead, manage and drive all sales of their integrated software solutions across Germany and Austria. You will define and implement effective strategies to achieve sales objectives. This is a senior level strategic position and applicants are invited with proven sales/business development experience, entrepreneurial and a strong sales methodology work practice. Germany and Austria are highly lucrative markets for the Company and the potential for high financial reward is available. Oil and Gas industry experience is desired but the key to this role is proven strategic sales achievement. You will be fully support by oil and gas technical experts. Although location is flexible, Hanover, Hamburg or Vienna is preferred.

Their innovative software solutions supports all aspects of the upstream oil cycle - from finding hydrocarbons to evaluating the prospects, building the wells, and managing and optimising the production process. Their Consulting Services Group integrates expertise and processes with these advanced technologies to optimise real-time workflows and provide robust information management solutions.

The Company has been at the forefront of leading technology advancements for nearly three decades, enabling the upstream oil and gas industry turn critical information into useful knowledge. The Company has some major clients within Germany and Austria and there is a great deal of further potential to be developed. As such you will devise strategies that will support and drive software sales and associate consultancy services in both new and existing client accounts.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Sales Manager Continental Europe, your primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Become knowledgeable in the Company's technologies and services.
  • Build close relationships of trust with existing and potential clients across Germany and Austria - be proactive in understanding their needs, priorities, challenges, constraints and market trends.
  • Be responsible for revenue of all software sales and consultancy services across these countries.
  • Devise and implement sales strategies that are highly revenue and margin target oriented. Monitor closely the sales pipeline for your region.
  • Provide accurate financial forecasting, and effective communication of financials to the Territory Sales Manager.
  • Liaise with senior level personnel in existing and new clients, understanding strengths and weaknesses of software offerings. Leverage these business opportunities.
  • Liaise with technical experts to assist you at client meetings.
  • Promote sales methodologies, policies and good practices.
  • Work closely with marketing personnel to raise the awareness of the Company's solutions and reputation within your region. Be proactive in marketing at roadshows, exhibitions, conferences etc.

This is a senior level role, which will require a passion for driving software and consultancy sales to meet targets. The position offers a great deal of variety, autonomy and scope to drive business with a potential for high financial reward. Role offers great potential for career advancement working for a global service provider in the upstream oil and gas industry.

Requirements: The successful candidate will have:

  • Degree preferred. Preferably in an earth science related subject but not essential.
  • Entrepreneurial individual with a minimum of 7 years' experience in a Sales/Business Development role essential.
  • Experience selling to the Oil and Gas Industry is advantageous but not essential - professional sales experience is vital.
  • Proven experience in consultative sales is essential - preferably of scientific software, IT or/and data management solutions.
  • Ability to devise complex, high capital winning proposals essential.
  • Highly strategic - the ability to devise and implement sales strategies effectively to reach and exceed targets is key.
  • Ability to monitor, manage and communicate strategic sales plans to managers essential.
  • Experience in sales across Germany and/or Austria advantageous.
  • An assertive individual with the ability to engage with senior level personnel in small to major oil companies is key.
  • Entrepreneurial approach essential - ability to identify new clients - can leverage existing strengths and react and lead in dynamic market conditions.
  • The technical aptitude to grasp quickly the challenges and rewards of leading edge technologies and the ability to champion and influence sales of these technologies.
  • Highly methodical - ability to multi-task, prioritise, with attention to detail but constantly paying attention to the bigger picture.
  • Excellent communications skills - you will liaise with senior level management and technical personnel to achieve results.
  • Personality and confidence to build strong relationships at all levels internally and externally to deliver results.
  • European language(s) advantageous. German desired but not essential.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and to deliver results.
  • Ambitious with a keen drive to exceed expectations and develop ones career.
  • This role requires extensive travelling between Germany and Austria.

Package: An on target earning of €128K - €155K. However accelerators do exist and there is no cap on earning. Additionally, Bonus, and Company Benefits are on offer dependent on skills and experiences.
