Job Overview: A leading global provider of multi-client geoscience data and related services to the oil and gas Exploration and Production industry seeks a Junior Account Manager to assist and support the Sales Team in the sale of their seismic datasets across Africa and the Middle East. Applicants are invited with a geophysics or geology background and a strong desire to develop a successful and financially rewarding career in geophysical related sales. The Company is committed to providing all relevant technical and commercial training as required. Previous sales or client facing experience advantageous but the key is a desire to pursue a commercial role. Role offers great career potential working for an expanding dynamic Company.

The Company provides extensive global geophysical and geological data libraries that include multi-client seismic data, magnetic and gravity data, digital well logs, production data and directional surveys. They also offer advanced processing and imaging services, interpretation products, and data integration solutions.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Manager of Sales Africa and Middle East (AME) this role encompasses many functions including:

  • Become competent in the Company's data sets, business practices and sales cycle. Full training provided.
  • Assist and support the AME Manager of Sales through the sales cycle of each late sale dataset and work closely with other members of the Sales team.
  • Sell the Company's existing inventory of data from the Africa and Middle East (AME) region to UK, European and African based customers.
  • Be proactive in raising the awareness and reputation of the Company's full range of services and products for the AME group: not only seismic but gravity/magnetic, well data and interpretation.
  • Support the generation of leads and sales opportunities. Take responsibility for a selection of major and smaller clients.
  • Support the Product Development group with seeking funding and promotion of new projects.
  • Attend conferences and exhibitions and as required provide technical assistance to the Corporate Marketing department.
  • Contribute to the success of this AME team - striving to close business and meet financial targets.
  • Contribute to budget preparation and accounting practices for sales.
  • Liaise between customers and all departments within Company to ensure the delivery of highest quality products and services.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by providing excellent service to customers that meets their requirements.
  • Engage Product/Service Managers or other Company resources to help develop complete and effective solutions for current/prospective customers.
  • Update Company's sales tracking system with current/prospective customer account information.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality of Company and current/prospective customer records and business activities.
  • Perform all other ad-hoc duties as assigned.

This is an exciting role for an individual with a good geophysics or geology background (either academically or through employment) and who has the personality, drive and ambition to succeed in sales. This role will build upon your technical knowledge and through mentoring and support will enhance your entrepreneurial commercial skills. Working with experienced sales personnel, you will be given great scope to excel and develop your sales abilities and to progress in the Company in a highly rewarding sales position.

Requirements: The successful candidate will have:

  • A degree either in a geological or geophysical subject. MSc or PhD preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years oil and gas industry experience essential.
  • Previous experience in a client facing role advantageous - e.g. sales, business development, training, pre/post sales, application support.
  • A keen desire to pursue a career in sales working within a dynamic, growing team.
  • Outgoing confident personality - a natural aptitude for developing good working relationships with people and driving sales.
  • Can work in a professional manner to timelines and under pressure at times essential.
  • Strong team player, who can work independently and at all levels within the company to accomplish goals.
  • Ambitious with high energy levels, drive and enthusiasm to succeed in sales.
  • Experience/knowledge of African or the Middle East markets advantageous.
  • Experience with well log data products and other geological data sets preferred.
  • Excellent communicator - can engage with clients and peers both in verbally and in writing.
  • An appreciation of Marketing - understands the importance of raising awareness and reputation across the region and can contribute to this success.
  • Previous experience/knowledge of the seismic acquisition industry highly advantageous - especially the multiclient sales proposition.
  • Has the ability to contribute to winning proposals.
  • Adaptable/flexible.
  • Willingness to travel - Will be required to travel in Europe and Africa.

Package: Depending on skills and experience, a Base Salary of £50K - £60K (GBP) plus a Bonus Scheme that could deliver an annual package of £60K - £72K. In addition, an attractive benefit package is offered. Bonus paid on quarterly basis.
