Job Overview: The largest independent power producer in the Middle East and North Africa and an established oil and gas operator seeks a Senior Development Geologist to work in their multi-disciplinary asset team, responsible for all aspects of geological input to the Asset Development team, and Exploration/Project teams as required. In this senior role, you will be empowered to work on your initiative undertaking technically challenging and exciting projects. Responsibilities: Reporting to the Asset Development Manager, your primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Geological mapping.
  • Static reservoir modelling.
  • Probabilistic in-place volume assessment.
  • Identification of infill drilling targets and near-field prospects.
  • New field development planning.
  • Well planning.
  • Work closely with other subsurface team members on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Provide input to field development, exploration and drilling plans.
  • Participate in peer reviews, and contributes to management and joint venture partner meetings.
  • Lead the support for the Asset Development Manager in opportunity identification and maturation
  • Lead, supervise and co-ordinate activities of other geologists. Mentor and support them in their role.
  • Lead project management.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:

  • A degree in a Geological Science subject essential. MSc in Geological sciences desired.
  • A minimum of 7 years oil industry experience in a geological role with at least 3 years in development geology essential. Operator experience highly desired.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams essential.
  • A good understanding of exploration geology desired.
  • Good understanding of North Sea regional geology preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of industry software essential.
  • Up to date knowledge of technological developments, industry initiatives.
  • Experience of economic evaluations desired.
  • Highly analytical - the ability to resolve complex problems and to recommend solutions essential.
  • Pragmatic team player who can work at all levels to accomplish goals; has the ability to see the big picture and assertive to make bold and entrepreneurial recommendations desired.
  • Ambitious - desire to succeed in this dynamic growth operator - to develop and grow with the role - take on new challenges and to exceed expectations desired.
