Job Overview: An International gas operating Company seeks a Senior Exploration Geologist to contribute to maximizing the value of the Company's UKCS exploration activities. You will undertake geological analysis and assessment of exploration and appraisal projects. Applicants are invited with a minimum of 10 years industry experience with experience in exploration geology. This is an exciting role working for an expanding gas operator that offers great potential for career progression.

Our Client is a global provider of specialized energy solutions, with Exploration & Production being one of their major growth segments. They hold in excess of 30 licenses in the UK and act as operator for about one third. They hold approx. 30 licenses in the Norwegian Sea and the North Sea and are the operator for eight of these exploration licenses. The Company explore and develop resources in three target regions: the North Sea, North Africa and Russia with their largest production asset in Russia.

Responsibilities: Reporting to Exploration Manager UK, the role encompasses many functions including:

  • Become competent in the Company's business, work flows and practices.
  • Contribute to maximizing the value of the Company's UKCS exploration activities.
  • Deliver contribution on existing licence commitments.
  • Undertake geological analysis and assessment of exploration and appraisal projects.
  • Represent the Company in Joint Ventures as TCM representative.
  • Contribute to BD and Licensing Round work.
  • Undertake prospect generation and maturation, risk analysis, volume assessment.
  • Experience in Geological well preparation - Provide geological support to operations and well engineering groups towards delivery of exploration and appraisal wells.
  • Demonstrate and promote one or more core geological skills e.g. basin modelling, pressure prediction, fault seal analysis, reservoir characterization, biostratigraphy.
  • Liaise with cross border teams and disciplines.
  • Co-ordinate all internal and external geological studies for designated licenses.
  • Participate and contribute to the Company's internal technical assurance procedures.
  • Represent the Company in Joint Ventures, both operated and non-operated.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:

  • An earth science related degree essential - preferably in Geology. MSc or PhD preferred.
  • West of Shetland experience essential.
  • A minimum of 10 years oil and gas industry experience essential.
  • Proven competence and track-record in exploration and appraisal.
  • UKCS experience preferred.
  • Operator experience desirable but not a pre-requisite.
  • Like working in international and rapidly acting teams.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral for effective liaison with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to integrate well with other disciplines.
  • Mentoring of junior technical colleagues.
  • HSEQ awareness.
