Job Overview:
An international geophysical survey company providing industry leading technology and geoscience solutions to global clients in the mineral, oil and gas, engineering and environmental management sectors, seeks a Global Sales Manager to head up their Petroleum Exploration Sales Team for all Gravity & Magnetic Services (including Airborne) for both multiclient and proprietary surveys. Applicants invited with proven sales/business development, a strong petroleum background in either exploration or geophysics and an entrepreneur who can lead and drive a global sales force to successfully develop new business.
The Company is well established and has offices located in various parts of North and South America, Europe, Africa and Australia and employ 400+ staff world-wide, most of whom are highly experienced geophysicists, geologists, remote sensing specialists and field survey operators. The Company has developed pioneering airborne acquisition techniques that are yielding benefits including lease decisions, seismic location determination, and prospect generation and drilling locations.
In this strategic sales management role you will develop and grow your sales team and give strategic direction and form to business development, internally as well as externally.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the VP GravMag Services, your key tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Manage a newly established Sales Team for a broad range of Gravity and Magnetic services both Multiclient and Proprietary whilst giving strategic direction and form to business development.
- Focus on Business Development hotspots including Africa, Europe, Middle-East and the FSU and actively seek new business opportunities as well as growing the current, lucrative internal global Sales account.
- Integrate and develop sales processes and methodologies and manage and support the Sales team ensuring that your team have the skills and competencies required and you will lead, offer advice and support.
- Support and mentor the more junior members of the sales team to further develop their understanding of the business, market, competitors etc. Strive to improve their sales performance.
- Prepare and present survey project proposals outlining project ideas, including budgets and timescales to prospective players. Secure the interest and finalise the funding requirements, the agreed parameters and timeframes.
- Work closely with the corporate marketing department to develop sales and marketing strategies. Assist in developing marketing materials (copy, press, brochures, case studies…)
- Work closely with Airborne and other business lines to ensure alignment of operational and strategic requirements.
- Provide support for technical presentations at exhibitions, conferences and road shows.
- Be proactive in building your exploration knowledge base - the trends, the players, new venture areas, new acquisition technologies, workflows for reducing risk and improving decision making in exploration activities.
This is a challenging and exciting role working for an expanding geophysical services Company. The role offers a great deal of scope and variety for a proven sales professional with a petroleum background. You will be supported by a strong technical team who will assist in the pre and post sales cycle. Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
- A degree in Geophysics preferred.
- Applicants are invited with a minimum of 13 years' industry experience essential.
- Proven Sales/BDM background in a Petroleum Exploration Environment essential.
- Airborne or marine survey experience desirable. Full training provided.
- A field background (exploration/geophysics), and an understanding of potential field, gravity & magnetics (preferably fairly extensive experience), or gravity gradient data highly desirable
- An understanding of multiclient and proprietary survey sales cycle and workflow advantageous.
- Experience of geophysical data acquisition, QC or processing advantageous.
- Previous experience in managing or supervising people desired.
- Service orientated - strive to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Good report writing capabilities - attention to detail.
- Team Player - must work effectively by actively contributing to the accomplishment of goals.
- Ambitious with high energy levels, drive and enthusiasm essential.

- Strong commercial acumen essential - the ability to analyse and identify market opportunities and to develop strategic plans to leverage new business.
- Excellent project management skills essential - the ability to define and communicate clear objectives, tasks and timeframes to achieve results. Ability to multi-task concurrent growth activities.
- Previous experience working in remote locations within various multicultural groups desirable.
- Entrepreneur, who can see the big picture, can develop and implement global strategies, and drive new business.
Package: Base Salary of €120-€140K plus Company bonus which delivers an attractive Package. Plus Company benefits. There may be some flexibility on Base Salary for a high calibre candidate.
