An international gas Operating Company seeks a Senior Drilling Engineer to provide input and technical well engineering support through the Appraise, Select, Define and Execution phases of the Well Delivery Process for their North Sea and West of Shetland projects. Provide input to Well Engineering work areas for Exploration, Appraisal and Development projects and provide drilling input and support of new license applications and farm-in opportunities. Our Client is responsible for Oil & Gas Exploration and Production activities, including developing new resources to secure long-term energy supplies and purchasing stakes in oil and gas fields or acquiring exploration and production licenses throughout the world. The Company is currently undertaking Exploration and Development in three main target regions: North Sea, Russia and North Africa.
Responsibilities: This role encompasses many functions that would require the successful applicant to:
- Become competent in the Company's services, work flows and practices.
- Provide day-to-day Drilling engineering input and support for the London project team.
- Provide technical support to the operations team as required.
- Provide Drilling engineering input and support of new license applications and farm-in opportunities.
- Plan all well activities using a risk-based approach and deliver a continuous performance improvement.
- Ensure that focus on Well Integrity and HSE & Q is maintained from the start of the project lifecycle.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary project team activities as required throughout the project life-cycle.
- Provide input to and support the preparation of the multi-disciplined well basis of design (WBOD).
- Participate in weekly status meetings with the Project Team.
- Provide Drilling Engineering support to the Supply Chain team in regards to tender preparation, evaluation, award and on-going maintenance of existing and new Drilling contracts.
- Participate in discipline technical meetings with license partners in other work locations as required.
- Perform office and rig visits as required to ensure that Well Engineering activities are carried out adequately and to acceptable standards.
- Coach, motivate and regularly assess the well engineering team. Mentor junior team members as required.
This challenging and exciting opportunity is ideal for a self-motivated and suitably qualified Drilling Engineer who has some experience but looking for their next step within an operator.
Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
- A degree in Engineering or subsurface related subject essential.
- A minimum of 7 years' Drilling Engineering experience essential.
- Well Engineering experience in North Sea (SNS and CNS) AND/OR West of Shetlands essential.
- Entrepreneurial attitude with the initiative to make suggestions and run with ideas.
- Experience in the preparation and review of well design documents and work programs essential.
- Experience using engineering software essential (e.g. Well CAT, Stress check, Well plan...).
- An IWCF certification combined with well control - preferred.
- Strong project management experience essential.
- Experience in the general and contract management of service companies and contractors in remote locations.
- The ability to organise, manage time and prioritise.
- Strong communication skills - ability to listen and communicate clearly and concisely within a multi-cultural and multi-discipline environment. Comfortable presenting to technical peers and Executive Management.
- Good interpersonal, communication, influencing and negotiating sills, with tact and diplomacy to deal with different levels across the organisation and externally with service companies and partners.
- Willingness to travel to international Company office locations, including the ability to travel to Aberdeen, Germany or Norway on business travel as required.
