Job Overview: The largest independent power producer in the Middle East and North Africa and an established oil and gas operator seeks a Senior Geologist to be responsible for all aspects of geological input into Exploration and New Business team activities. In this senior role, you will be empowered to work on your own initiative undertaking technically challenging and exciting projects. Responsibilities: Reporting to the Exploration Manager, you will be involved in the following range of activities, including:

  • Regional evaluations of key play types.
  • Prospect and lead generation.
  • Probabilistic in-place volume assessment.
  • Prospect risking.
  • Input to economic evaluations and screening.
  • Identification of drilling targets.
  • Well planning.
  • Work closely with Subsurface team members on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Provide input to new field development plans.
  • Participate in peer reviews and contribute to management and joint venture partner meetings.
  • Take a lead in supporting the Exploration Manager in opportunity identification, ranking and maturation.
  • Lead evaluation of third party acquisition opportunities
  • Supervise and co-ordinate activities of other geologists.
  • Mentor and support more junior team players.
  • Provide and promote effective project management.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:

  • A degree in a Geological Science subject essential. Further degree in a Geological science subject desired.
  • A minimum of 7 years oil industry experience with a strong geological exploration background essential. Operator experience highly desired.
  • North Sea experience essential.
  • Exploration and production geology experience desired.
  • Experience of economic evaluations desired.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams essential.
  • Up to date knowledge of technological developments, industry initiatives essential.
  • Highly analytical - the ability to resolve complex problems and to recommend solutions essential.
  • Good working knowledge of industry software essential.
  • Excellent communication skills - the ability to devise and give presentations and technical reports in a coherent manner essential.
  • Pragmatic team player who can work at all levels to accomplish goals; has the ability to see the big picture and assertive to make bold and entrepreneurial recommendations desired.
  • Ambitious - desire to succeed in this dynamic growth operator - to develop and grow with the role - take on new challenges and to exceed expectations desired.
