Job Overview: An established Geological products and services Company seek two Senior Geoscientist Application Consultants.

The Company founded in 1996 has been helping high technology oil and gas clients implement the next generation of 3D geological interpretations tools for the desktop. Their software enables the integration of data from well logs to seismic, paleo to facies interpretation, production data, core images and cross sections into a seamless, well-organised 3D real time environment, delivering insightful geological interpretations.

This integration capability and its value of dramatically reduced interpretation cycle time, has been highly acclaimed by their geoscience users. With this niche solution, the Company has been highly successful in securing a global agreement with a major oil client to implement this software and train 400+ geoscience users worldwide in the operational use and workflow optimisation of these tools. As a result the company is seeking to strengthen its technical team in the key areas of technical support, consultancy, and training.

With a technical G&G background, your primary focus will be to provide support of this software and to train staff in the UK from a training centre in Surrey and to travel to Aberdeen to assist in training and consultancy activities as required.

This is a highly focused client-facing role, where you will be proactive in maintaining and improving current practices and procedures in relation to application consultancy activities. You will track, communicate and evaluate current service requests, document project progress and make recommendations. You will be responsible for achieving a high level of client satisfaction and tasked with delivering all aspects of the service in a timely and professional manner.

Responsibilities:This role is technical varied and the successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Provide onsite technical advice and support - working onsite with the client's geoscience users, you will support them in the operational usage of the tools.
  • Training - from training centres or onsite, provide classroom training in project work and usage of this 3D geological software.
  • Workflow Improvement - be proactive in identifying the current geological workflow and practices of users and providing support to optimise their usage of the new software. You will consult on projects relating to workflow analysis and optimisation.
  • Software Enhancements - Liase with Software Development team, making supported recommendations for improvements or new software capabilities.
  • Prepare and present technical papers and case studies at seminars and conferences, and work with clients to identify success stories and good material for publishing/presenting
  • Improve knowledge base - keep abreast of industry trends and practices relating to geoscience technologies, challenges and solutions.
  • Co-ordination - provide effective coordination of all support activities relating to this key implementation in the UK.
  • Support the sales team in activities that increase awareness and reputation of the Company's offerings
  • Monitoring and Control - You will track, communicate and evaluate current service requests and document project progress.

The Company recognises that you may require training in its software suite and will provide all necessary training.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:

  • Earth Science or related degree essential
  • Minimum of 10 year's work experience within the Oil and Gas Exploration and Production industry essential
  • Minimum of 5 years technical experience in G&G application support, training and/or using geological interpretations systems essential.
  • Previous consultancy experience advantageous.
  • Strong practical understanding of manipulating/accessing G&G data repositories essential - Landmark's OpenWorks data environment highly advantageous.
  • Prior Pre-sales or/and Post-sales experience highly advantageous
  • Experience of well log interpretation, mapping, volumetrics, gridding or/and seismic interpretation/visualisation software highly desirable - e.g. Stratworks, ZMAP, Petrel, SeisWorks, Geolog, Stratlog, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, essential.
  • A broad understanding of the Oil Life Cycle (Exploration, Production, Development) advantageous.
  • Confident and self reliant - the ability to visit clients onsite, to train users, give presentations and to demonstrate technical value proposition essential
  • Efficient time management, highly organised with excellent co­ordination skills essential
  • Customer Service orientation with uncompromising regard for operational effectiveness & efficiency essential
  • Self motivated, adaptable and enthusiastic, and highly flexible with a proactive approach to tasks
  • Willing to travel to other UK and international sites.

Package: An attractive package of £40K - £60K (GBP) per year is on offer, dependent on skills and experience, plus a profit sharing scheme.
