This highly reputable Company, has through its unique expertise in the fields of in-situ stress, wellbore stability, pore pressure and sand production prediction, developed powerful technologies that are used in their consulting services, software and training to their worldwide client base.

For over 10 years the Company's exclusive technologies have been proven in many of the major geologic regions around the world through hundreds of consulting engagements (http://www.geomi.com/case-studies.html) for exploration and production companies such as national oil companies, majors (BP, Chevron...) and the majority of independent oil companies.

Their consulting service business is growing rapidly, with year-on-year growth of 35% and offices in the US, UK, Germany, UAE, Malaysia and Australia to cope with current demand. Their services have established an excellent track record for helping clients reduce drilling risk, cut drilling costs and enhance production through the application of geomechanics to the well planning and reservoir analysis process.

As part of this US consulting team, you will work alongside other senior industry personnel and participate in, and later lead, geomechanical consulting projects in the fields of wellbore stability, prediction of sand production, fault seal analysis and analysis of fractured Reservoirs.

Responsibilities:This includes but is not limited to:

  • Managing the team working on your assigned consulting projects.
  • Performing consulting work including;
  • Reviewing and collating project data and information
  • Performing geomechanical project work including pore pressure, wellbore stability analysis, image & caliper log analysis, stress constraint, fracture permeability, fault seal analysis, sand production and other related activities.
  • Interfacing with clients (as directed) on aspects of the project and other work
  • Helping with preparation and production of technical training materials.
  • Helping teach technical training courses on geomechanical theory and practical use of the Company' software.
  • Helping prepare presentations, technical documents and other items of project delivery.
  • Attending trade shows, conferences and helping with other marketing and sales activities.
  • Supporting research and technology developments.
  • Authoring and contributing to technical papers and publications related to the Company's business activities.

Candidate Requirements: The successful candidate will have:

  • Relevant degree essential, preferably Doctorate or Masters level.
  • A minimum of 10 years work experience either commercially or undertaking geomechanics research essential.
  • Solid knowledge of some of the following: rock mechanics, wellbore stability, stress determination, finite-element methods, material (rock) testing, and mechanical material behavior essential
  • Previous consulting or project management experience highly advantageous
  • Highly analytical with a solid background in using technologies to resolve problems essential
  • Must be dynamic and self-motivated, with a drive to succeed
  • A broad understanding of the Oil Life Cycle (e.g. Exploration, Appraisal, Development, Harvest, Abandonment) advantageous
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills as you will liaise with clients and work colleagues.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English essential
  • Other foreign languages, especially Spanish, highly advantageous
  • Good mentoring capability - willingness to share knowledge and mentor more junior staff.
  • Excellent report writing skills required
  • Willingness to travel essential

Salary:A Base Salary of $120K - $140K USD plus an annual bonus, resulting in a potential on target earnings (OTE) of $140-$165K is on offer, depending on background, training and years of experience, plus company benefits.
