Job Overview:A leading provider of information, products, solutions and services to the Oil and Gas industry seeks a Field Development Information Manager.

The Company monitors daily oil and gas exploration, production and transportation activity from around the globe in order to provide critical industry intelligence to major energy producers and national and independent oil companies worldwide. They complement this information with economic, political, fiscal and regulatory analysis and strategic and operational research. By integrating essential information, intuitive software and analytical services worldwide, they help clients better understand their operations and thus reduce operating costs, increase productivity and more effectively evaluate investment opportunities.

The Company has developed a comprehensive suite of decision support software tools that help manage the risk factors involved in all aspects of a field development life cycle. Their cost evaluation systems provide up-to-date regional benchmarks for reserves recovery, technology costs, and infrastructure capacities. This strategic cost management approach can save millions in operating efficiencies and has been relied on by asset managers, engineers and project planners around the world for the last 15 years.

Leading a team of four Petroleum Engineers, your primary responsibilities will be to (a) create onshore and offshore field development models and life cycle cost estimates for the field development information database and (b) work with the Company's product development and support team to further enhance the software tools. While your team will build the majority of the field development models, you will be expected to bring your experience and specialist skills to bear on the more complicated models, so a strong background in field development planning is required.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious Petroleum Engineer with a good grasp of risk factors and commercial and economic issues to step into a responsible leadership role in a leading Services Company with a global presence.

Responsibilities:Based either in Houston or London and reporting direct to the Principal Engineer, this role includes a range of responsibilities, including:

  • Manage and motivate a team of engineers, pulling together geological, engineering and fiscal information to build the field development models and life cycle cost estimates for worldwide oil and gas assets, both onshore and offshore
  • Source supplementary field development data through the worldwide scouting network and independent research, develop new sources of intelligence and manage the process of gathering, collating, and disseminating information
  • Write and review comprehensive supporting field development plan documents, ensuring their integrity and quality
  • Become proficient in all the technical components and workflows within the engineering software suite in order to champion the service within and beyond the Company, supporting sales and business development strategies, attending conferences, preparing and presenting technical papers etc.
  • Develop strong relationships with the client base, building a clear understanding of their requirements and ensuring product development meets their ongoing needs
  • Work closely with the development team throughout the development life cycle, providing advice and input on technical field development issues
  • Be a technical focal point within the company for subsea and other engineering matters

Candidate Requirements: The successful candidate will have:

  • Degree essential, preferably in a relevant engineering discipline such as Petroleum, Process, or Chemical Engineering
  • Solid experience as an engineer in the oil and gas industry essential, with at least 5 years practical experience strongly preferred
  • Good understanding of commercial issues in the global energy industry essential, some knowledge of Petroleum Economics helpful
  • Deep understanding of the Oil Life Cycle and an appreciation of the varying activities of other disciplines and how they interact, advantageous
  • Detailed design experience of offshore facilities and subsea installations essential
  • Experience with economic cost estimation software essential
  • Some familiarity with the software development cycle advantageous
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills essential; must be able to convey information and ideas in a clear, non-technical manner that engages the audience and helps them understand the technical issues involved
  • Assertive, must have the ability to manage, motivate and lead an effective team to achieve the desired outcome
  • Customer Service focused
  • Willingness to travel essential

Salary:An attractive base salary of $100K - $130K (USD) or £50K - £65K (GBP), as appropriate, plus bonus and Company Benefits is on offer dependent on skills and experience. There may be some flexibility on salary for an outstanding candidate.
