Job Overview: A broad-based provider of cutting-edge seismic imaging technologies, services, and solutions for the global oil & gas industry, seeks a Strategic Business Development Manager to work with a small group of designated major Oil & Gas companies in Europe.

Recognising that seismic technologies are reaching their technical limits, the Company has addressed these challenges, and are leading the industry into the emerging digital, full-wave era, extending seismic applications across the E&P lifecycle, introducing consulting services that integrate seismic survey planning, acquisition, and processing, and designing innovative seabed acquisition solutions that significantly improve marine image quality.

The Company has grown both organically and through acquisitions and has established an excellent reputation. Building upon this success, your primary responsibility will be to develop close relationships with key personnel within a small designated group of major Oil and Gas companies, (e.g. BP, Shell, Total) to develop business opportunities across the Company's value chain propositions. You will be supported by sales account managers across the Company's various business units and by the regional business managers in Africa and the Middle East

With a strong geophysical or/and geological background, you will help these oil companies identify and address their most challenging seismic acquisition and processing issues, helping them to unlock the full potential of challenging land or seabed environments. You will recommend the most effective solutions that address their challenges and you will work with them through out the implementation of these service solutions, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction is achieved.

You will work with the designated major oil companies, devising business plans that will cover the delivery of a wide range of Company solutions over a three-year cycle.

This strategic position is part of the Company's Global Business Development Group, covering four regions. You will work closely with all the strategic BDM's in this group, devising global business strategies that will deliver company objectives.

Responsibilities:Reporting to the Director of the EAME & ISc Region, this role encompasses many functions including:

  • Undertake training in the Company's services and technical solutions, becoming competent in all required.
  • Develop strong relationships with key technical and commercial personnel in designated major Oil and Gas Companies within your region.
  • Develop service demand within your accounts for Company solutions through close collaboration with all the Company's business units.
  • Develop innovative strategic business development plans that meet business objectives. These will cover a 3 year plan for your major accounts.
  • Provide visible and ongoing leadership within your accounts, scheduling regular client visits.
  • Promote and champion full wave technologies and solutions.
  • Working with the EAME & ISc sales team, you will provide account and industry knowledge.
  • Collect prioritised product/service requirements and communicate to relevant personnel.
  • Where relevant, coordinate activities with the Company's preferred third party contractors for account solutions.
  • Provide accurate and timely business development forecasts.
  • Monitor and manage client account satisfaction, ensuring a high level is maintained.
  • Develop consistent sales presentations & materials for your accounts.
  • As part of the Company's Global Business Development Group, you will be instrumental in developing global BD strategies that deliver company objectives.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:

  • Degree essential. Preferably in either in an Earth Science or business related subject. MBA advantageous.
  • Minimum of 15 years oil and gas industry essential. Strategic planning experience highly advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5 years in either a sales/business development or technical consulting role (internally or externally within your company) and the desire to succeed in a commercial strategic role essential.
  • Strong business acumen - the ability to think strategically and develop long term strategic plans essential.
  • Clear understanding of the upstream oil and gas industry and the ability to articulate value propositions to high-level executives in E&P companies essential.
  • The technical aptitude to grasp quickly the challenges and rewards of full wave technologies and the ability to champion and influence sales of this technology within oil companies, essential. Full training will be provided.
  • Experience of working with major oil companies essential with established senior level relationships desirable.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills as you will participate in executive level meetings with clients.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with both oil company and contractor personnel essential.
  • Experience across the disciplines of seismic acquisition, processing and/or interpretation highly advantageous.
  • Abilities in high-level problem identification and formulation of conceptual/technical solutions essential, preferably in the geophysical arena.
  • Strong commercial acumen - the ability to devise, monitor, manage and communicate sales plans and forecasts effectively.
  • International work experience a plus.
  • Foreign Language a plus.
  • Must be able to travel.

Package: This is a strategic level position and as such an attractive package is being offered. Depending on skills and experience, the candidate could expect a Base Salary of £60K-£75K and an on target earning (OTE) of £110K-£150K plus. Attractive Company benefits.
