Job Overview: A recognised leading provider of specialist services in gravity and magnetic geophysics to oil exploration companies, mining groups and government organizations worldwide seeks Senior Field Projects Engineers/Geophysicists.

The Company offers a full range of services surrounding potential field geophysics to exploration companies. These services and products range from airborne surveys, data acquisition, processing, and integrated interpretation projects, including related software.

The Company has developed pioneering airborne acquisition techniques that are yielding benefits including lease decisions, seismic location determination, prospect generation and drilling locations. Through the acquisition of gravity gradient data, the analysis of gravity and magnetic data in combination with other conventional methods provides a more complete exploration solution as interpretational uncertainties are reduced through the analysis of additional rock properties.

This methodology helps explorationists gain a complete picture and a better understanding of subsurface geology, through a multi-disciplinary and integrated approach. They can demonstrate that significant geological information can be gleaned from gravity and magnetic data in both frontier and mature exploration areas and as such the need for airborne surveys has dramatically increased.

The Company are now in need of personnel to staff additional airborne survey to meet demand. Working as part of a team, your primary responsibility will be to lead an airborne geophysical crew which will acquire and process gravity gradient data. You will rotate with other Senior Field Projects Engineers and Field Electronics Engineers.

The Company realise that you may not have all the technical skills required and are committed to providing full training in all relevant technologies, work practices and will be supported and guided in your role.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Operations Support Manager, your key tasks and responsibilities will include:

• Undertake training in the Company's techniques and software tools used.
• Lead an airborne geophysical field crew consisting of geophysicists, aircraft engineers and pilots.
• Project manage field acquisition projects as required including mobilization / demobilisation, survey planning, client liaison, and liaison with the aircraft operator.
• Acquire airborne gravity gradient data as well as complementary data sets.
• Where required undertake in-field quality control processing of gravity gradient, GPS, magnetometer and laser ranging data.
• Maintain effective communications with the UK head office.
• Contribute to the documentation of field procedures and survey reports.
• Supervise and schedule the work of the field crew in a productive, efficient, and safe manner.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships throughout the business, in particular liaise with peers in similar roles to gain the benefits of common practices.
• Maintain professional awareness of the external developments in scientific instrumentation and geophysics to identify where these may be used to benefit the business.

This is an ideal opportunity for an individual with some experience working with airborne, marine or land geophysical field crews, and who likes the concept of rotational work offering long periods of times off (e.g. 3 weeks off each rotation). Preferences: The successful candidate will have:

• A degree essential - preferably in Geophysics, maths or engineering.
• A minimum of 3 years geophysical industry experience essential.
• Previous experience working on a field crew essential. Airborne field crew experience highly advantageous.
• Previous experience in a supervisory or leading role desirable as you will lead a field crew.
• Some experience of geophysical data acquisition, QC OR processing essential.
• Experience or knowledge of potential field, gravity & magnetics, or gravity gradient data highly desirable.
• Highly analytical with excellent problem solving abilities essential.
• Some experience of survey design or survey planning highly desirable.
• Service orientated - strive to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Good report writing capabilities - attention to detail.
• Good understanding of relative HSE issues and resolutions.
• Team Player - must work effectively by actively contributing to the accomplishment of goals.
• Excellent communication skills.

Package: Dependent on skills and experience the Company are offering a Base Salary of £28K-£35K plus Field Pay and Field Allowance, resulting in an annual expected salary of £39K - £46K. In addition, a 5% Bonus scheme plus company benefits.
