Job Overview:
A recognised leading provider of specialist services in gravity and magnetic geophysics to oil exploration companies, mining groups and government organizations worldwide seek a Business Development Manager to develop acquisition business in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
The Company offers a full range of services surrounding potential field geophysics to exploration companies. These services and products range from airborne surveys, data acquisition, and processing.
The Company has developed pioneering airborne acquisition techniques that are yielding benefits including lease decisions, seismic location determination, and prospect generation and drilling locations. Through the acquisition of gravity gradient data, the analysis of gravity and magnetic data in combination with other conventional methods provides a more complete exploration solution as interpretational uncertainties are reduced through the analysis of additional rock properties.
This methodology helps explorationists gain a complete picture and a better understanding of the subsurface geology, through a multi-disciplinary and integrated approach. As such the Company is rapidly expanding to meet the growing demands for airborne acquisition surveys.
In this role, your primary responsibility will be to identify and develop business opportunities within Europe, Africa, and Middle East region to a) secure gravity gradiometry surveys for current and gradient instrumentation and b) their processing consulting services.
As such, this role is ideal for someone with some experience in selling geophysical products, solutions or acquisition services be they seismic, EM or gravity and magnetics. Alternatively, you may come from a strong geophysical acquisition background with a keen desire to succeed in sales/business development. The Company are committed to providing full training of all their specific solutions.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Vice President of Global Sales & Marketing, your key tasks and responsibilities will include:
- In conjunction with the V.P Sales, develop the business development strategy to meet the sales targets for Europe, Africa, and Middle East.
- Plan and prioritise business development activities to drive sales leads and opportunities for the regional sales team.
- Identify suitable regions/countries for developing gradiometry surveys.
- Gain a strong knowledge of the key exploration companies exploring within the region.
- Develop sales leads and opportunities for the regional sales team.
- Understand the business requirements for working/operating within the chosen countries.
- Contribute to the sales process by developing and discussing contractual terms and conditions for all services provided by the Company.
- Maintain key client relationships: ensure that client enquiries are responded to promptly and effectively.
- Be aware of export and trade compliance issues; as well as any other regulatory controls, which may affect the company's business processes.
- Ensure that a high level of customer satisfaction is maintained throughout the service delivery.
- Liaise with clients and/or contractors throughout duration of projects.
- Provide support for cross company systems for client contacts, sales visit scheduling and sales reporting.
- Participate in oil, gas and mineral technical conferences as and when required.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships throughout the business, and in particular liaise with peers in similar roles to gain the benefits of common practices.
- Maintain professional awareness of the external developments in scientific instrumentation, exploration geology and geophysics, to identify where these may be used to benefit the Company and report on market and competitor activities and provide relevant reports and information.
- Assist the marketing group to devise effective marketing strategies - i.e. providing geophysical and geological technical support where needed, creating panels and displays for Trade shows and other marketing presentations, etc.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
- Degree preferred, in either in an Earth Science or business related subject. MBA highly advantageous.
- Minimum of 10 years in the oil and gas industry.
- Minimum of 5 years in sales/business development OR geophysical acquisition background with the desire to succeed in sales essential.
- Strong geophysical acquisition knowledge/understanding essential.
- Strong business acumen - the ability to devise, monitor, manage and communicate sales plans and forecasts effectively.
- Excited by new technologies with the ability to understand and articulate the value of non conventional innovative technologies essential.
- Knowledge of the application of potential field geophysics to exploration highly desirable.
- Technical background of gravity and magnetic data, products and/or services highly desirable
- Team player - proven ability to work with all levels to accomplish goals working remotely as well as face to face.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - must be able to relate to team members and communicate confidently with clients.
- Enthusiasm and drive to keep abreast of new trends and technologies in this market.
- Self motivated individual - use initiative and lead.
- Willingness to travel.
- Must be service orientated.
Package: Dependent on skills and experience, the Company is offering a package of Base Salary £55K-£75K GBP plus a 20% bonus scheme, offering an on target earnings (OTE) of £66K - £90K plus company benefits.
