Job Overview:
A vibrant and dynamic Company who is a global energy leader with an exciting future are looking for a Geoscience Corporate Database Administrator.
The Company is one of Canada's largest energy marketing companies. They explore for, develop, produce and market crude oil, natural gas and power. They have built a strong strategic presence within various North American regional and global markets. Their London office manages key assets in the North Sea, where they are a significant regional player within both exploration and production.
With experience of loading geoscience data, your primary responsibilities will involve the loading, quality assurance, managing and coordinating of data within the corporate database as requested by the geoscience user community and third party stakeholders. The corporate database is centred around OpenWorks with a bespoke GIS front-end via NitraView.
Responsibilities:Technical Systems team consists of 5 personnel and your role encompasses many functions including:
- Load data to Working and Corporate projects. For example, 2D & 3D seismic data loading into Landmark. Well header, deviations, poslog picks, log curves, time/depth, remarks.
- Quality assure the data against final documentation.
- Manage projects already loaded and related disk space management resources.
- Conduct ongoing QC of data in Corporate database against that in the Working projects.
- Checking and updates to LAS Indexer.
- Checking and updates to CATS (Core & Test Database).
- Loading final data to Livelink.
- Creation of Livelink Well Files upon request update of prespud names and metadata.
- Attend corporate database related meetings.
- Loading/transferring and managing of interpretation data from the business units.
- Facilitate user requests for data - e.g. searches, transfers from Corporate to Working, download from CDA/DISKOS...
- Foster and promote effective corporate database processes and procedures to deliver accurate and reliable data.
- Maintain strong relationships with the business units geoscience community, fully understanding their corporate and project data requirements.
- Ensure established data management procedures are fully adhered to.
- Ensure that a high level of client satisfaction is maintained throughout the service delivery.
This role is ideal for an individual with good data loading and data management experience and analytical and problem solving skills. Working for an expanding oil company, the role offers a great deal of variety and scope to expand your corporate database technical hands-on capabilities.
Preferences:The successful candidate will have:
- Degree in an Earthscience or related subject preferred.
- Working knowledge of loading and managing well data to Open Works essential.
- Solid working knowledge of 2D/3D seismic data loading to OpenWorks /SeisWorks essential.
- Management of Seismic data in the UNIX environment essential.
- Knowledge of Unix\Linux operating system essential
- Knowledge of and experience working with EDMS system 'Livelink' desirable.
- Knowledge of CDA/DISKOS desirable.
- Knowledge of GIS systems ArcGIS, MapInfo, Nitroview etc desirable.
- Quality assurance experience essential checking integrity of both the working and corporate databases for both seismic and wells.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence to interact with internal and external groups.
- An assertive individual with the ability to work independently, take initiative and achieve goals.
- Strong service delivery focus, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction, and high quality of service.
Package: : An attractive Contract Day Rate of £200-£350 is on offer dependent on skills and experience. Although this is a contract position initially, there is potential that it may be converted to a permanent role if desired.
