Job Overview:
A vibrant and dynamic Company who is a global energy leader with an exciting future are looking for a Technical Applications Support Analyst to provide application support across the full range of technical applications.
The Company is one of Canada's largest energy companies. They explore for, develop, produce and market crude oil, natural gas and power. They have built a strong strategic presence within various North American regional and global markets. Their London office manages key assets in the North Sea, where they are a significant regional player within both exploration and production.
The UK's Information Systems Group comprises functions such as Data Management, Information Management, Technical Systems, etc. Reporting to the Manager of Technical Systems, your main responsibility will be to provide application support across the full range of geoscience applications used within the Exploration and Subsurface functions.
Responsibilities:The Technical Systems team consists of 10 personnel, with 3 covering the applications support area. The role encompasses many functions including:
- Providing application support to the business users for the range of technical applications available with a specific focus on the geoscience applications (the core being Landmark's OpenWorks and SeisWorks suite and associated software, and other PC-based applications, including Petrel).
- Working in conjunction with other members of the Technical Systems team, and will also involve interaction with other IS groups, including IT Operations and Business Applications, as required.
- Coordinating the planning and installation of software updates, and licence management and administration.
- Provide end user support, to include assistance with project related work utilising application toolkit
- Interact with vendors to provide support and to maintain applications, including licence renewals, maintenance and support
- Provide an ongoing development of services in support of business activity.
- Providing backup to other members of the Technical Systems team.
Working for an expanding oil company, this role offers a great deal of scope and variety, for an individual with a strong application support background, who has strong analytical and problem solving skills, and the ability to demonstrate excellent verbal, written and interpersonal relationship skills.
Preferences:The successful candidate will have:
- Degree in a geoscience or a closely related discipline essential.
- Excellent working knowledge of key geoscience applications (Landmark OpenWorks, SeisWorks, etc.) essential.
- Proven experience in supporting applications on both PC and UNIX platforms essential.
- Good understanding of all petrotechnical data types, and a demonstrable understanding of a broad range of engineering & geotechnical applications highly desirable.
- Experience with GIS systems (e.g. ArcGIS MapInfo, NitroView) highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of and experience with support and data management for Schlumberger's Petrel application highly desirable
- Knowledge of and experience with OpenSpirit highly desirable.
- Experience with support call management/tracking system, preferably Remedy highly desirable.
- Knowledge of / experience with ITIL IT Service Management methodology highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence to interact with internal and external groups.
- Must have the ability to work independently, take initiative and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction, and high quality of service.
Package: : An attractive Base Salary of £40K - £50K plus benefits is on offer dependent on skills and experience.
