Job Overview: An expanding leading Information Management Service Company seeks a Geoscience Data Management Co-ordinator.

The Company has an excellent reputation for the delivery of Data and Information Management (IM) solutions covering a broad range of services from sub-surface application support to the management of physical commercial records. They have unparalleled experience within the Oil and Gas Industry for the successful implementation, integration and support of large scale document management and collaboration solutions as well as the design of bespoke intranet and desktop based solutions for smaller teams and organisations.

The Company provides a range of data and information management services to their established clients in London & Aberdeen. Services range from strategic data management planning to technical hands-on data management implementation and delivery. Working at an oil company client site, your primary responsibility will be to provide data management support services to their asset teams.

Job Responsibilities: Working at the client's premises as part of a project team and reporting to the the Geosciences Manager, the successful candidates will support the current team and be involved in the following activities:

  • Be proactive in understanding the data management requirements of the geoscience users.
  • Load data (predominantly seismic and well) to relevant project databases (e.g. OpenWorks or GeoFrame).
  • Create, update or archive project files as requested.
  • Provide assistance to users in the manipulation of this data within project files/databases.
  • Ensures that data is loaded according to relevant procedures and standards devised.
  • Verify the data within the project data store meets any quality criteria specified.
  • Increase Data Management efficiency by reducing time spent by users searching for geoscience data
  • Carry out periodic checks on the completeness, validity and quality of data stored in the project data store
  • Advise users on good data and database practices (e.g. version control, deleting log files, capturing interpretation data) and implementing any agreed actions on the users behalf.
  • Deliver services in a professional and timely manner ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction is achieved.

The Company realize that you may not be a specialist in the database environment used by a client and they will provide training to successful candidates.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who has proven geoscience data management experience, excellent client liaison and problem solving skills, and who wishes to expand their technical skills with an innovative company.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:

  • Degree level education preferred. (Preferably in a Geoscience, IM or IT related subject.)
  • At least 3 years geoscience data management experience, working in an E&P company or service related company essential.
  • Experience in loading geoscience data (either seismic or well data) to industry standard applications (e.g. Landmark, GeoQuest, Kingdom etc.)
  • Strong understanding of database environments (e.g. OpenWorks, GeoFrame etc).
  • Knowledge of industry best-practice and procedures and standards related to geoscience data essential.
  • Strong general IT skills essential, with good experience (either in UNIX, Linux or PC environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills essential as you will interact with varying levels of technical and managerial staff at client sites, other consultants, associates, etc
  • Excellent project management skills - the ability to prioritize competing DM demands.
  • Highly service orientated.
  • Team player and self motivated.

Package: An attractive remuneration package of £35K-£45K plus Bonus & Company Benefits is on offer dependent on skills and experience.
