Job Overview: A world leader in the delivery of structural consultancy to the upstream Oil and Gas industry are seeking an experienced and well-qualified Structural Geologist to join their frontline team the UK and to contribute to their expanding global project work

Over the past 15 years the company have pioneered the creation and application of innovative techniques for structural analysis in exploration, evaluation and production projects around the globe. The Company has offices in the UK and the USA, is associated with leading Geoscience University Departments and is focused on providing top quality technical and commercial services to the industry.

The company's philosophy has been to conduct high quality consultancy and research to fully utilise the expansive data sets routinely collected by industry and to rapidly apply new concepts to reduce uncertainties and risk. The Company has taken a multi-disciplinary approach to the problem of fluid flow and deformation in rocks and has provided niche technologies and new workflows, as well as creating new databases and risk schemes for the industry. These have been applied to exploration, appraisal and production of oil and gas fields as well as mineral deposits.

This is a senior role and your primary responsibility will be to take the lead of a multi-disciplinary team on a variety of microscale to regional projects, generating, managing and assisting with project work. You will be expected to help set future directions for the group and to grow business opportunities.

Job Responsibilities: Reporting to the CEO, you will be expected to:

Reporting to the Director of Services, your principal tasks will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and apply new ideas, tools and workflows for structural analyses.
  • Initiate and manage consortium projects, implementing innovative methodologies to achieve objectives.
  • Liaise with clients regarding project requirements, technical requirements, progress, and outputs and ensure a high level of Client satisfaction is maintained.
  • Provide leadership for the project, mentor team members and provide technical expertise when necessary.
  • Identify technical requirements and constraints of the projects and ensure that resources are available and managed effectively.
  • Manage the technical capacity of the group, ensuring that skills and competencies are developed. Working closely with business units and research groups within major Oil & Gas companies, help define the selection, testing and application of new and effective structural solutions for the industry.
  • Develop field and classroom based structural geology courses training aimed at enhancing the focus of structural geology within the industry.
  • Select and to grow new consultancy areas and participate in the strategic planning and realization of new business ventures.
  • Develop research and University links.

Preferences:The successful candidate will have:

  • A degree (BSc, MSc or PhD) in an Earth Science discipline preferably Structural Geology essential.
  • Minimum of ten years upstream O&G Industry experience essential.
  • Competence in applying modern techniques for structural analysis in exploration and production situations essential.
  • A broad knowledge of structural analysis from the reservoir to regional scale Preferred
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously essential.
  • Must be service orientated and highly client focused - establishing and building long-term business relationships.
  • Experience in business development/sales highly desirable.
  • Ability to lead technical teams to deliver services in a professional and timely manner.
  • Ability to articulate and write project results in a clear and concise manner.
  • Can mentor, support and QC the work of more junior team members.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Enthusiasm and drive to keep abreast of new trends and technologies in this market.
  • Must be able to travel.

Package: A Base Salary of £60K - £80K GBP plus a Bonus/benefit package is offered, depending on skills and experience. There is some flexibility on base salary for a high calibre candidate.
