Job Overview: A leading provider of Controlled Source Electromagnetic (CSEM) Imaging services seeks a Team Leader to oversee and provide guidance on the processing and interpretation of marine CSEM data and the integration of these data with other types of data, such as wireline and seismic, within their processing team and to liaise with the client throughout the service delivery. This is an interesting opportunity to develop your technical and managerial skills working across various disciplines, for an expanding company.

From offices in the UK, US, Norway and Malaysia, the Company provides services that include CSEM acquisition and processing along with the interpretation and integration of other geoscience data sets for the global oil and gas industry. CSEM has been used for over 10 years and is now widely accepted as adding value in assessing exploration and production risk. The Company, with a team of leading geoscientists, has developed a unique workflow and processes, which integrates a range of geoscience data across petrophysics, geology and geophysics.

Competent in data processing, you will lead the processing of marine EM projects, involving a combination of signal processing, forward modelling, geophysical inversion and imaging techniques. You may have up to 5 processors in your team.

You will focus on the implementation and monitoring of projects, making sure that QC standards are adhered to and that all procedures for project data management are in place.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Processing & Interpretation Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing your team effectively, responsible for the efficient and thorough execution of all data processing, modelling and interpretation tasks.
  • Active technical leadership in projects as required.
  • Liaising effectively with clients, understanding their project requirements, constraints and challenges. Agreeing the service parameters with clients in conjunction with Processing and Interpretation Manager.
  • Ensuring that quality control standards are met, both for processing, modelling and reporting.
  • Liaising with processing, research and development and operations colleagues as appropriate.
  • Drafting of new procedures and approval of procedure updates.
  • Mentoring and support of team members. Proactive in transferring your specialised knowledge and in advancing their skill sets.
  • Encouraging and nurturing an analytical and thought provocative environment

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:

  • An MSc or equivalent second degree, or PhD in a related geo-science discipline (geology, physics or geophysics) essential.
  • A background in electromagnetic or seismic imaging highly advantageous but not essential, as all relevant training will be provided.
  • Experience of using industry-standard geophysical data processing software in a Linux environment is desirable.
  • Technically competent with the ability to identify problems, think laterally, develop and apply appropriate theory and drive practical solutions.
  • Self-sufficient and self motivated with the ability to work on own initiative.
  • A strong appreciation of high quality service delivery essential. Strives to exceed client expectations on all projects delivered.
  • Good report-writing skills, for internal and external distribution, essential.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas to audiences of mixed technical knowledge in and erudite and confident manner.
  • Strong team lead ability - motivates others to accept a challenge and encourages others to achieve outstanding results.

Package: An attractive salary of £30K - £45K (GBP) plus performance related employee share option scheme is on offer dependent on skills and experience.
