Job Overview: A leading Industry E&P Software and Services Company, providing subsurface information solutions to the oil and gas industry worldwide seeks a Support Geoscientist - Seismic Interpretation to provide customer support, training and consultancy on the Company's interpretation suite of software to clients throughout the EA region. This role is open to candidates with at least 3 years industry experience - paying up to £48K max.

The Company provides leading integrated geoscience and engineering software and associated services for prospect generation and evaluation, enabling oil operator clients to proceed with less uncertainty and more confidence in their exploration and production activities. They have a global network of sales, services and user support from 25 offices in 22 countries, serving all major oil and gas producing provinces in the world.

With an academic background in interpretation geoscience, your primary responsibility will be to provide front line support for the Company's interpretation suite of software onsite at a client's local offices.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Team Lead of Interpretation, you will undertake the following tasks which include:

  • Tasks at Oil Company Site:
    • Provide one-on-one mentoring in the operational use of the technology;
    • Review and track users' issues with the use of the technology;
    • Help users utilise the technology effectively. Provide advice on best practices.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems that may occur in the normal course of business. If problems are particularly complex, interface with other Company Customer Support and R&D personnel until problem is solved, provide a suitable workaround and/or escalate to provide user with a time-frame for a fix/solution.
  • Understand Customer's workflows as they relate to a specific task at hand and, if possible, suggest/demonstrate more efficient workflows.
  • Reinforce formal training so that techniques and workflows learned in class are utilized once the user returns to his office.
  • Serve as in house Paradigm help desk by fielding and logging calls from Customer's user community and providing assistance as needed.
  • Maintain and communicate a log of activities to appropriate Customer personnel.
  • Skilled in UNIX and Linux operating environments
  • Provide quality product consulting and help grow business by demonstrating the real value of the service delivered.
  • Develop individual technical skills to ensure good working knowledge of all products in the suite.
  • Develop individual soft skills to enhance service delivery (Presentation skills, Phone etiquette)
  • Ensure a high level of satisfaction is maintained throughout service delivery; provide workflow assistance to the client as required.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:

  • A recent geophysical Degree or a related Geoscience discipline essential.
  • Masters degree in Geophysics desirable
  • Minimum 3 years industry experience with a Service or Oil company essential.
  • Experience in interpretation of seismic data in a workstation environment essential.
  • Previous experience working with industry standard seismic interpretation/visualisation software (e.g. SMT - Kingdom, IESX, Seisworks, Charisma. Voxelgeo) essential.
  • Experience of integrating well data highly advantageous.
  • Prior experience in basin analysis, well planning and log analysis advantageous.
  • Advanced interpretation and visualisation advantageous
  • Proficient with Linux / Unix workstations and System administration.
  • Strong desire to advance your technical knowledge of leading edge products
  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to listen accurately and articulate clearly in the English language to convey effective and accurate support to the Client.
  • Good problem solving, trouble-shooting and deductive reasoning/analytical skills.
  • Personable with the ability to work within a high performance team.
  • Must be service orientated with a focus on delivering projects in a timely and professional manner.

Package: A Base Salary of £40K - £47.5K plus performance bonus, and company benefits is on offer dependent on skills and experience.
