Job Overview: An established international oil and gas company, with its core operations in Europe, Russia, Northern Africa and Latin America seeks a Senior Production Geologist for its Dutch operating company, situated in The Hague, Netherlands.

The Company has been active in the exploration and production of oil and gas for an extensive period of time, with far-reaching natural gas production in the Netherlands as well as oil/gas production in Germany, Libya, Russia and Argentina.

The majority of the total natural gas and crude oil produced by the Company comes from deposits where they are the operating company. The company is actively pursuing a policy of ongoing investment in the development of new deposits and the expansion of existing fields. As such the company places a strong emphasis on subsurface geology and geologists are considered to be important members of reservoir management teams.

Responsibilities: Key tasks and responsibilities will include to:

  • Identify additional development opportunities, as well as enhancing recovery from existing productive reservoirs
  • Apply your skills and use state of the art tools to map and describe reservoirs, participate in volumetric and reserves estimations, and participate in a production optimisation team
  • Provide geological/geophysical/petrophysical expertise to producing hydrocarbon accumulations during their lifetime
  • Present solutions and supporting work to Reservoir & Production engineering departments and business partners
  • Provide internal assessments for some non-operated assets
  • Prepare presentation material for operated producing assets and be prepared to represent the team by presenting work and results
  • Become a proven team player capable of working in a multidisciplinary and multi-national team environment with a desire to share knowledge, coach/mentor younger staff and have the ability to think beyond your discipline
  • Construct flow unit models for simulation input and to calculate volumes
  • Possess workstation skills with software products such as Powerview (Stratworks, Seisworks) and Petrel
  • Provide modelling assistance to all other asset teams
  • Liase closely with, and support Reservoir & Production Engineering to up-scale and simulate ECLIPSE models for dynamic reservoir simulation, history matching and well productivity prediction
  • Be self-driven with strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.

This is an interesting opportunity for an experienced Production Geologist who has good evaluation and characterisation skills and is able to communicate findings effectively. The role offers great scope within a dynamic operating company.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in oil and gas field exploitation, geomodelling and reservoir characterization essential
  • Experience in multi-reservoir evaluation, well delineations, well planning including horizontals, petrophysical analysis, core-log integration and understanding of hydrodynamics essential
  • Degree in Geology/Geophysics/Reservoir Engineering or related discipline
  • At least 10 years relevant experience
  • Strong background in Sedimentology and Structural Geology, Field development planning and Petrophysics.
  • Expert geo-cellular modeller: structural, stratigraphic, facies and property modelling
  • Experience in detailed 3D structural and reservoir modelling of hydrocarbon Fields
  • North Sea experience desirable
  • Have an affinity with production chemistry
  • Generate and evaluate producing hydrocarbon fields, while also identifying and assessing key risks and uncertainties
  • Ensure good communication in English, both written and verbal, including written reports and presentation of work with recommendations, both internally and to partners
  • Maintain a high level of quality and consistency in the work done
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, working in a constructive manner with other team members
  • Effective communicator, ability to coach/ mentor younger staff and ability to think beyond
  • Good written, presentation and verbal communication skills
  • Good computer skills and experience with all key industry standard software packages
  • Good fluency, verbal and written, in the English language - Dutch language skills desirable
  • Structured work approach and well organized, self driven and analytical
  • High level of responsibility and reliability

Package: 120 k € and a very competitive package is on offer depending on skills and experience.
