Job Overview:
A recognised leading provider of specialist services in gravity and magnetic geophysics to oil exploration companies, mining groups and government organizations worldwide seek an Operations Manger to manage the daily logistics of their survey operations globally. Applications are invited from candidates with 5+ years International logistics experience supporting survey operations (this could be seismic, electromagnetic, magnetic or/and gravity surveys).
The Company offers a full range of services surrounding potential field geophysics to exploration companies. These services and products range from airborne and marine surveys, data acquisition, processing, and integrated interpretation projects, including related software.
The Company has developed pioneering airborne acquisition techniques that are yielding benefits including lease decisions, seismic location determination, prospect generation and drilling locations. Through the acquisition of gravity gradient data, the analysis of gravity and magnetic data in combination with other conventional methods provides a more complete exploration solution. As such the Company is expanding to meet the demands of their clients globally.
With strong project management experience, your primary responsibility will be to manage the daily logistics and the reporting and safety for diverse and dynamic survey operations conducted around the world. You will develop, implement and maintain operational support systems, which improve the safety, quality and productivity of the Company.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the VP Operations, your key tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Provide strong project management throughout (using Microsoft Project)
- Schedule crew rotations for all field personnel
- Operational reporting on weekly progress of projects, KPI's and trend analysis
- Budget and schedule estimations for operational activities, resource estimations, weather forecasting and risk assessments
- Logistics management to include pre survey logistics in the office and on site, shipping documentation, permits, agents, contracted local personnel
- Creation, implementation and maintenance of Operations Manuals to include both aviation and marine operations
- Provide cover for crew manager duties as required during periods of absence, annual leave etc
- Act as Safety Officer to include attendance and member of IAGSA technical committee, IAGC representative, site safety audits and JSP reviews
- Develop and maintain the Quality Management System to provide continual improvement
- Develop and maintain an operations safety and quality training system for new employees and re-fresher training programs for existing field staff
- Develop standard service agreements with subcontractors in a manner that ensures continual service at industry recognised rates and quality
- Ensure the safety management system includes relevant and applicable national and international regulations which may affect airborne and marine geophysical activities
- Participate in the weekend duty program for crew notification
- Initiate and implement a risk reduction and risk management process
- Travel on occasion to international field locations as well as subcontractor and vendor offices

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
- A degree preferred - preferably in Earth Science, Geophysics or project management related subject.
- 5+ years international logistics experience supporting survey operations essential - this could be seismic, electromagnetic, magnetic or/and gravity surveys.
- Marine and/or airborne survey logistics and management experience highly desirable.
- Strong project management experience, managing technical and logistical aspects (e.g. forecasting, scheduling, resourcing, risk assessments …) essential.
- Proven experience with MS Office and MS Project.
- Previous experience in, or appreciation of Safety regulations, enforcement and management a plus.
- Excellent problem solving abilities essential.
- Some experience of survey design or survey planning desirable.
- Excellent organisational skills - can multi task, working under pressure to exacting deadlines and time scales.
- Good report writing capabilities - attention to detail essential.
- Service orientated - strive to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction essential
- Team Player - must work effectively by actively contributing to the accomplishment of goals.
- Excellent communication skills - the ability to converse at all levels within the Company, clients and officials.
- Excellent written and spoken English essential.

- Previous experience working in remote locations within various multicultural groups desirable.
